This is a link to past state champions. If you don't count Acadiana or Carencro (92), then yes, Lafayette doesn't have any state champions. I know a lot have made it to the dome, but couldn't make it happen.

LINK

But if you don't count the Lafayette area schools, do you count Livingston and Ascension parishes as a part of Baton Rouge? Or Jefferson, St Bernard, etc as a part of New Orleans?

My kid is gonna be devastated. He's at driver's ed so missing workouts this week.

He got called the next best set of "sweet feet" next to Trev's at practice a week or so ago.

I feel like puking.

And yes, Coach Roc has been heard to say that he'd like to be like his dad and build a dynasty.

That said, Trev I am told isn't certified ... I didn't think that public schools hired noncertified teachers??? Really not hating and best of luck to him but damn, I'm sad.

Are you specifically talking about Lafayette city schools here? Because other than Acadiana, Northside and Carencro (all recent except for Carencro) I am pretty sure STM, Teurlings, Comeaux and Lafayette High never made it to the dome or a state championship game in their history. That goes without saying the smaller christian schools that are in Lafayette.

I want to say they made it back in the early 80's to the dome but got manhandled by Curtis. It may have been in the semi's, though. Funny, I want say the same happened to LHS in the 90's, can't remember if it was at state or in the semi's.

If you look at that website that was posted earlier...it shows every game from every year with the teams and the outcome and in every class. It is too much for me to look right now but I have before and I don't remember seeing either teams name.

Ah hah, one school from Lafayette made it to state of the few listed. Technically sTm has been to state. Cathedral went to state in 1933 before it merged with Mt Carmel that later merged with our lady of fatima to form sTm.

Haha...well I don't think that really counts for STM but now we know who's been. (Cathedral, Carencro, Acadiana, Northside) Still, even with very few appearances over time...Lafayette plays some of the best football in the state. If you widen it to the Acadiana area it get's even better.

All I remember about Northside is that they have an epically loud band with deep bass, even when they were losing. I hope this new coach will give them a reason to play even louder

Well, when most of the teams in the district are outside of Lafayette area, persay, I think it gives us some decent football to watch on Friday nights.

Has any Lafayette school besides acadiana ever even made it to the dome? And Northside is the 4th best high school team in the city.

4th best really? STM is probably the only team better in Lafayette than Northside and when they were in the district together that was debatable. In the city of Lafayette i would say they are ranked STM, Northside, Teurlings for football. When Breaux Bridge, St. martinville, STM, and Northside were all together a few years ago in a district there was not a tougher district in any class in the state IMO.

also Michael Turner

Michael Cambell, and also there is a new one that went from JH williams to Harvest Time now at VC all i know is his name is TJ. Harvest Time is a feeder school for VC LOL, they cant make the grades at JH Williams or Abbeville High, they go to Harvest Time to get caught up, then the public schools dont accept Harvest Times credits when they try to go back, and VC does, so they go to VC to finish out school.

So VC isn't taking J.H. Williams kids. You literally just proved my point. Kids transfer from Harvest Time to VC. They transfer from a private school they have to pay for to another private school they have to pay for. I don't see how VC is going to J.H. Williams and is luring kids out with a "scholarship" as you call it. I don't know if your bitter with VC for some reason but you clearly need to think before you speak. Just because a kid decides athletics are really important to him and he wants to play for a form LSU standout and NFL player doesn't mean anyone is recruiting. It means VC looked a whole lot more promising and fun than Abbeville High.

Lack of coaching and discipline has been a staple at Northside for years.

They can be monstrous with TF as the new coach.

One of the things that made him so successful his first year as a head coach was surrounding himself with a good supporting cast. If he does that at Northside watch out!
