I get the point you're making. He hasn't trained basketball hard for 8 months, but I assure you he has played some ball.

The only people I can recall that have done it with any success would be Curry from NC and Charlie Ward from FSU

Antonio Gates averaged over 20 points his final season in college.

Several other Tight Ends played both sports as well finding moderate success.

Tony Gonzales
Jimmy Graham
Rico Gathers

For people who played both Football and Basketball, there is football shape and then there’s basketball shape. They aren’t the same.

It takes 3-4 weeks to ramp up into basketball shape after playing football.

By the time Green could be an actual contributor, it would be the end of January, beginning of February.

What’s the point??

Gates didn't play football in college. Graham never played both simultaneously. He strictly played basketball for four years, ending in the spring of 2009. He then stayed an extra semester and played football in the 2009 season. Gathers never played football at Baylor.

I think the discussion is guys who played both, simultaneously, in college.

That's if you would be expecting the guy to come over from football and immediately start playing 25 mpg. That's not what LSU would be doing, and it's not like "football shape" is being fat and overweight. Green would be in good enough shape today to play 5-7 intermittent minutes in a basketball game (not that I think he will)

Tony Gonzales was a very good basketball player for Cal.

I'm sure he has been playing basketball this whole time. While it's not the same as full practice, I'm sure he's been doing basketball drills on his own.

Seeing Ohtani and Travis Hunter produce at high levels doing things that have long been considered impossible makes me hopeful he can be successful. We defenitely can use another big body.

No way he is good enough to play SEC basketball…

6’6” power forwards who can’t shoot don’t translate well…. Unless you have a Corey Chest motor… which he doesn’t
