It was damaged from last year. They Repaired it with some type of tape because he's like many baseball ( or for that matter sports in general) superstitious and didn't want a new one. One poster asked for purple paint at least

I don't think the NCAA allows a cracked batting helmet. Kind of a safety issue especially with guys throwing over 100 mph. Technically I don't think they're supposed to allow tape on a helmet either. I can see where that would slide by but I do not believe they would allow a cracked helmet. And from what Tre told a few people at a recent crawfish boil, the pads are annoying so he tapes them back. Again I don't think you would be allowed to wear a cracked helmet

Personally I think it looks trashy and needs to find something else to focus on and get a new one.
