Shawn kemp was the godfather of trash talking. He use to say I am dunking on the best players in the world you goddam right I am going to get excited. If you got it flaunt it. This is black people, there flashy, not all but most, bling, bling diamonds jewelry, there play on the field. That's the way they are and I love them for that, makes te game so much more fun to watch. If I was out tree making plays it would be 100 times worse. I would be breakdancing at midfield.

TRASH TALKING COMES WITH THE POSITION FOR DBS. THINK OF ALL THE GREAT ONES TO EVER PLAY THE GAME LIKE DEION AND ED REED. EVERY DB IN THE NFL TALKS MORE shite THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE, YOU JUST DON'T SEE IT ON CAMERA.

DBS NEED TO HAVE SOME SWAG AND BE A LITTLE COCKY. THEY ARE ON AN ISLAND OUT THERE AND THEY NEED TO GET IN THE RECEIVERS' HEAD. TRASH TALKING HELPS THIS. THINK OF ANDRE JOHNSON AND FINNEGAN. JOHNSON LOST HIS HEAD AND GOT KICKED OUT OF THE GAME. EVEN THOUGH FINNEGAN GOT HIS arse BEAT, HE ACHIEVED HIS PURPOSE BY TAKING HIM OUT OF THE GAME!

STOP BEING PUSSIES AND LET THE TRASH TALKING AND arse KICKING CONTINUE
stop screaming, we're not deaf!!

I don't remember Mathieu acting like this at all last season. He was just as good and fiery but not nearly as much of an attention whore. I think all of the attention and praise he has gotten, combined with the fact he plays on a great defense that can stop most offenses, has gotten to his head and he just has some growing up to do.

Most players that come up through the SEC take their licks early and are humbled by the competition. Mathieu was a star from the start and never had any growing pains. Mathieu will grow up by either getting put in his place a time or two by a good offense/player, or by costing his team yards with a stupid penalty and then having a coach get actually pissed at him for his behavior.

Trash talking and banter between players is part of the game. It can go overboard.

It is up to the officials to decide when it has gone over-board. I saw nothing that would indicate it was one-sided. It was coming out equally on both sides including before the game. These high intensity games bring out the most passion and emotions.

I am a bit concerned about the degree of trash talking and the "mugging" for the cameras some players are doing.... in particular Tyrann Mathieu... he's an incredible athlete and a special player.... but the mouthing off and posing for the cameras is not going un-noticed and not in a good way.

Agree with you, but unfortunately some people actually think "that's football." We just don't need to complain when Mathieu or someone else gets flagged for it and it hurts the team. If we lose a game because of it, well, "that's football."

A little trash talking is to be expected these days, but Mathieu goes beyond that. People on this board would be hollering about the "punks" on any other team if they did that. It goes both ways.

If I was ranked as low as he was coming out of high school and then two years later became one of the best DBs in CFB I would be talking shite all day long.
