A new coach would give us a lot less headaches, a lot less closer games, and a LOT less national embarrassment.

You say "would" as if you can see the future. It's just as likely a new coach WOULD come in here and only win 6-8 games a year. These non-close games you speak of WOULD just as easily be a complete, arse-whipping on LSU.

As far as I'm concerned that Penn State game didn't really happen at all. I was more worried that Russell Shepard would blow his knee out cutting in that slop.

Most meltdowns result in losses. This one didn't. I wouldn't consider it anywhere neare epic.

I would be happy for Miles if he left because of all the abuse he has taken from the "Hall of Fame" armchair quarterbacks on the board.

This is such BS. Les has not been treated badly here. He has been given one of the best contracts in the country. He stands to make millions even if he doesn't win another West Title. Stop feeling sorry for Les. Les is not a victim. LSU has been good to him. Make no mistake about this. We have been fair to Miles. Anybody that says LSU has not been fair to Miles as a coach is lying to himself.

Reading that one paragraph lets me know that you haven't really thought out what you posted. You cannot say those things with any degree of certainty. IE you are full of shite.

There's no degree of "certainty" in an opinion, it's just that. Les Miles is not some miracle worker that suddenly became a genius because he beat Alabama when 3 weeks before that he was a dead man walking. He's an average coach who manages to get his share of wins, almost in spite of himself. Any good coach with a sound philosophy, the recruiting base that we have, the facilities, and the money behind the program can be just as good. I'm not saying someone would come in and win a championship right away, but they could win 8,9, 10 games just like Les has done over the past 3 years.

Find me an example of a top ten team being booed at home by its own fans while beating a ranked opponent. That's all I ask, really. Find me one example of this behavior by any other college football fanbase and I'll agree with you. shite, I'll even take apocryphal stories. Links be damned.

I'm pretty sure he's speaking of the fans and not the university, and many fans have not been fair to him at all.

I should post more "stupid" threads on the rant that inspire debate, reach five pages, and stay atop the rant for the better part of a work day.

his is spot on. The morons crying for Miles to be fired need to have this beat into their thick skulls.

Rich Rod was considered a top coach and was highly sought after when Michigan got him. Look how that worked out. Dan Hawkins kicked arse at Boise State and he sucked arse at Colorado. etc etc
It could turn out badly for us, I agree with you there. It's possible. But it's just as possible that if we did our homework and got the right guy, we could achieve the same results with a lot less stress during games, and a lot less headaches.

The sunshine pumpers are saying the thread is 'stupid' because it challenges the collective Rant wisdom that Les Miles is some kind of great coach, when not one respectable outlet in the CFB world supports that thesis right now.

Any good coach could come in here and give us 9-10 wins per season WITHOUT an SECC or NC, same as the last 2 years

No, but lsuexpert57 did, and he was the one I was originally referring to. You replied to me. Hopefully, you can follow along a little better next time.

Technically, you are typing, and this type of shorthand is common on Message Boards. Please try and keep up. I will try and type it all out for you next time, so you don't get confused.

You brought Saban into this, not me. This is common amongst the Miles faithful, who think any anti-Miles person is really secretly in manlove with Saban. Again, try to follow along, here. There are some of us in this world who don't worship Nick Saban, but still think Miles is an average coach. I didn't bring Saban up, you did. I have no obsession with him. Clearly, you must.

but would anyone else be not that upset if Les Miles was able to parlay this season into another job with the NFL/UM?

If Miles wants to go, so be it.

I'll thank him for his efforts and wish him well and I will move on without a glance backwards.

That doesn't mean I want to see him gone. Just that since I respect his efforts on behalf of LSU, I will likewise respect his desire move on if he so wishes.

There are no "could've" or "ifs" or "close to" in college football. There is only did you do what you needed to do to win or didn't didn't you.

All that other stuff is just a means for some to try to knock the success of a 61-16 career record at LSU.

I would be upset. I can't believe some of you want to get rid of the 3rd Winningest Coach in LSU football history behind Charles McClendon and Bernie Moore; a coach who averages over 10 wins per year and who will finish, at worst, with a 10-3 record this year. There is something inherently wrong with that scenario.

Of course, if he left, I wouldn't blame him. And if he did leave, I don't see anyone better out there that LSU would realistically have a chance to get.

Be careful what you wish for, because you might just get it.

Do you remember game 3 of 2008 until really the Alabama game? The guy was coming off a 2007 national title and went 17-9 in 2008/2009 and LSU fans wanted him GONE. Said horrible things about the man. Get out of here with this loyalty crap.
