I just checked to confirm what I saw during the Miss. State replay, etc. We had 55 total plays during the game. During the replay, I noticed that we had 36 plays at half time. Only 19 plays in the second half -- amazing.

At least the few number of total plays explains our low total yardage for the game.

The short fields the defense got us also helps account for it.

Yeah, but then again we always seem to have a short field and on the year we have averaged 3.58 points per visit to the redzone(4 tds, 5 fgs in 12 visits).

number of plays and time of possession are worthless as long as you score

I think the second TD drive only consisted of 3 plays or so as Nevis intercepted the ball and fell around the 25 or 20 of Mississippi State.

And we've averaged almost 30 points per game.

in general, try the other way around...the low number of yards, equates to low number of first downs, equals low number of plays

Since you keep up with stats, do you know how many drives we have over 50 yards for the year?
