The 2011 team was really good but it was just different football all around. We scored more points than anyone in the conference that year but if you take our passing yards from this year and compare them to the end of the season SEC passing stats from 2011 we'd already be in the top half 7 games into the season. Defense was stronger all the way through the conference. We really have no idea how the 2019 Team would look playing the 2011 schedule and the other way around.

Yes it is and I don’t know why everyone is citing 2011 as so much better. This teams weak link is a lot stronger than 2011s and the fans in love with 2011 still cling to the false narrative that the schedule was some kindve murderers row when it wasn’t at all. The non conf schedule was tough but the SEC was the weakest it’s been since at least the split.

On defense they were. There is no debate...

Defense and special teams advantage 2011. Offense of course 2019. But the OP said more legit to this point which is absurd. 2011 had 2 wins at this point better than any win this year so far.

2011 definitely had more NFL players. Probably best to see how this team finishes out before we start comparing. The most exciting thing about this team besides being in the hunt is the foundation being built for complete LSU teams going forward.

And? Is there any debate over the offense? The point is if these two teams faced each other, because of the matchup, this years team likely wins comfortably. We saw a less talented West Virginia offense put up 530 yards and score on the 2011 defense, this offense would do more damage and there’s noway that 2011 offense could line up and run the ball at this defense and score enough points to keep up. Even if 2011 could keep it within a possession this years team has the QB to tip the scales. Now if something happens and this years team hits a wall then I’ll retract my opinion but with the evidence we have so far this years team is much more complete.

How would this years team do against 2011 Bama???????
Posted on 10/20/19 at 5:42 pm to dukke v
I think they’d have a very good chance. The difference between us and Bama in 2011 was mostly the Oline, we have zero Olineman from that team in the NFL and Bama had 3 or 4. Their ability to at least control the line of scrimmage made the biggest difference in those games.

Through 8 games Jarret lee had the highest QB rating in the SEC, and the best defense AND special teams in the country. Gimme 2011

2011 was like nothing we’ve ever seen through the first 7 games
Have to go with 2011

It’s an opinion discussion and I definitely see and respect where you’re coming from. To each his own.

Well actually we saw better in 2003 defensively but this year is the year we’ve never seen anything close to what we’re witnessing. So by your logic it’s 2019 without question.

I really don't want togo into thistoo deep but when Les gave up on Jarrett Lee was a huge factor for the whole team.. Yes we kept on wining but...................

2011 team would probably find a way to beat this game by a few scores
Posted on 10/20/19 at 5:55 pm to Madking
Not at all.
2003 lost a game so they are out
2011 was beating the shite out of everyone. Those Florida and Auburn games were unreal

I agree with you there, what Miles did was unprecedented and stupid. No other coach has ever removed a starting QB from a number 1 team who was leading their league in passer rating and undefeated. I know people use the Alabama game to defend the move but people remember what happened incorrectly and who knows what happens if Lee would’ve been secure in his job going in. Flynn threw 3ints vs Bama in 07 and that turned out ok because he gave us the ability to score points.

Ok but you’re moving goalposts here. You were talking about the defense now you’re changing it to the overall record. That’s not a valid argument.
