He was referring to calls, as in plural. IMO, the facemask (which was legit) was one of them.

USC WON the game. But LSU fans want to tarnish one of the greatest efforts EVER by an underdog, By blaming the refs!!!

Nobody is tarnishing the game that happened 30 years ago. This is what happens when it's brought up:

1 Every time this game is brought up a bunch of LSU fans blame the refs for the facemask call.

2 LSU Tangy sets them up and makes them look dumb because there is contact with the mask.

3 The thread is successfully hijacked.

4 Folklore has had LSU fans talking for 30 years about the facemask because very few people actually saw the video of what happened on the play.

5 In an attempt to keep Tangy from kicking the crap out of the guys on this board (most not even born in 1979) I offer the full story of what happened on the play. At least the false start is totally legit. We will never know how that missed call would have played out, but we certainly know we lost the scoreboard 17-12. That is all on that.

5. 9/30/00. LSU beats Tennessee in the first overtime game in Tiger Stadium history.

I wasn't at the '79 USC game which everyone claims to be the loudest in Tiger Stadium history. However, I was at this game, and it was the loudest, start-to-finish, of all of the games I have been to since 1982.

Rohan Davey's 37-yard scramble on LSU's first possession set the tone for the whole game. From that point on, it never got quiet.
