You're right, he lost his routine, he didn't do what he usually does and is supposed to do. THe pressure got him and it happens ot ALL athletes a few times in their lives.

personally I think he took the putt for granted and was already thinking about the next hole...it was a mistake that cost him the tournament, so yes, he blew it. It's borderline semantics, but I don't think it was the pressure of the situation that caused him to miss the putt..thus a choke.

I think he was physically drained by the time he hit the tee shot on #17 in regulation (while Choi was just enjoying himself and high-fiving fans on the walk to the green). After Toms made the awesome birdie on #18, his excitement finally drained him emotionally

This is just an excuse. It was nice seeing him play so well . However that was a major choke job on the 17th playoff hole. A 2 foot put????

Choi had just as long a day as Toms did

They all started at 7:45 am but Toms played 32 holes on Sunday and Choi played 27. Choi got more rest during the day. Geaux Toms! It will be interesting to see how he plays in the coming weeks.

It was 3.5 feet and it wasn't a choke. I'd say this for any golfer on tour.

He has said more than once he took the easy putt for granted.

Someone who won a PGA Championship under insane pressure is not fretting a 3.5 footer.

This, Toms was coming out of his swing the last nine holes. The guy was exhausted mentally and physically. Considering his age and past injuries he still has to be thrilled with his level of play this weekend.

In addition, I heard him say on the Golf Channel that he wasn't 100% focused on the putt. Already thinking ahead to #18.

So basically what I get out of this thread is that the term "choke" is whatever you precieve it to be so that it benefits your side of the argument.

For some it can be a single putt, for others it has to be done over 18 holes.

Classic!

Maybe hard to stay focused when you haven't won in 5 years and you have a guaranteed $1,026,000, win or lose.

He's going to win at Colonial this coming weekend. He loves that course and it sets up very well for him.

Huge David Toms fan here. Follow him for his entire rounds at the Zurich when I can attend just to support a fellow Tiger. Great ambassador for LSU, classy guy. Awesome golfer. Potential golf Hall of Famer.

But that was a choke job.

I don't think any less of him because of it because I've missed shorter putts for A WHOLE LOT LESS money. But if it would've been any other golfer, you'd all be calling choke. Take off the P&G glasses and call it what it is.

Good luck this week DT! I'm STILL pulling for you.

No, what you've got is a bunch of idiots who think they know shite about golf claiming he choked.

5 iron out of a divot to 15 feet to make birdie on the toughest closing hole on tour is gutsy.

I was there watching him and I would definately say the length of the day maybe wore on him more than Choi. LOTS of Choi fans so we threw him a GEAUX TIGERS. He looked over to us and gave us a smile. Not a lot of Tigers there but there were a few. DT was rocking his purple and gold. He truly is an amazing ambassador for LSU and Louisiana in general.
