Floridas pen isn’t that deep. They used their best 2 last night. Maybe they can pitch if desperately needed.

They’ll have their Sunday starter tomorrow and Slater is their other reliable arm out of the pen, I don’t think he pitched today.

I can’t imagine he will. But regardless, why would anyone not think, or be opposed, to Hurd starting. He should be fully ready to go, has been absolute nails in unbelievably high leverage situations multiple times with our season on the line. We have the starting pitcher matchup edge if its Hurd against Caglianone. Get 5 or 6 from him and then it’s Skenes (if he can go) and Fat Jesus. If Skenes can’t go, it’s Herring then.

That was the only problem I had with the game today, not being to use up the other 2 significant relief pitchers in a much closer game.

We would have certainly been better off losing 7-4 today.

If you think Fisher and Neely won’t be used tomorrow, you’re delusional. As opposed to Skenes, who has only started, they are relievers who are used to and conditioned to throw multiple times in a three game series.

didn't think we'd lose by 15 today either so who knows.

Once we brought Edwards in, I figured we were headed for giving up 20.

And it was the right call at the time. Who gives a shite if you give up 24. It's only 1 loss.

Yet both rarely have thrown multiple times in a weekend.

Fisher has done it once, on March 3rd and 5th. Neely has done it 5 times. Last night was the 2nd most pitches he’s thrown in a game(54). His highest was 59 and he didn’t throw until 5 days later after that outing.

As much as I would like to see Skenes, I am sure his agent and himself will say no go.

JJ was deliberately avoiding Herring. That tells me he plans on using him tomorrow.

Here’s how I see it going:

Skenes starts and goes 4/5
Herring comes in and goes 3
Cooper closes for 1/2.

Championship?

The difference is this is for the national championship; they will both be available and likely pitch. What they will be asked to do is nothing compared to what our fan base wants Skenes to do.

I agree but to close Hurd is a great option for 3-6 outs. I just hope we fricking wake up a get hits with RISP!!!

Sounds like Cooper may not be available so Skenes/Hurd/Herring/Guidry if necessary is a good bet

Why? He got a double play ball and Thompson booted it then they got a routine pop up that the wind pushed out

Then there was the whole first-pitch homerun performance prior to that.
