You can make this claim with Les too. You can make an argument that we have the best linebacker tandem in the country and statistically we're one of the worst LSU defenses ever. It looks like Les is going to give Steele another year, but does anyone have confidence that Kevin Steele will be able to solve our defensive woes?

I think at this point in time you accept the media scrutiny and try and improve our program with the best hire possible. The talking heads will change their tones if we begin to win again.

(It strongly depends on who is DC)

Rumors of a dc out of I think UCLA last year showed promise. I forget who it was but the right hire with us retaining O could be beneficial. For that matter name Orgeron DC.

Amazing how that has been the criticism of every single coordinator under Miles except maybe Crowton his first year and Jimbo 2001. Seems to be one constant in all that.

Clancy Pendergast. A GREAT coach. But Miles went for Steele because.

quote:

Pendergast, out of coaching for the 2014 season, did not have enough familiarity with the SEC and recruiting in the South to encourage LSU coach Les Miles to bring him aboard after meeting with him over the weekend, the sources said.
Here ya go.

The talking heads really have no damn clue what they are talking about. Buggar is the only one that is looking at this under the microscope like the AD and the fans. The other just see an overall view have paid no real attention to the last 3 years.

I realize that but you're going to get rid of one of the winningest head coaches in school history for some unproven guy that's won 10 games at Houston.

People act like Miles was a home run hire. He was a guy with 4 years of HC experience, averaging 7 wins per year with a .500 conference record and a losing bowl record.

Tom Herman doesn't seem like the type that is trying for comfy and 2nd tier. Seems like a type A that wants to win a Superbowl 1 day. Anyone close to the situation realizes that we're not torching Miles for losing games, we're torching him for how and who his is losing too. We shouldn't be getting our arse kicked every year running the exact same scheme and downgrading our coaches.

Understood, but Va Tech is not a 2nd tier program IMO and he would be walking into a better situation. Seems like too many coaches grab SEC jobs, get skull dragged and become irrelevant. Not saying that would happen at LSU but he would be walking into a hornet's nest and boosters would expect immediate results.

Because of easier competition?

LSU is stacked with talent, has incredible fan support, great facilities, in a recruiting hot bed with no instate competition, etc.

It's a better job in every way other than its in a harder conference.

Do we want someone who would bolt to the NFL after a couple years? I don't.

The guy has literally helped turn the school into a winner everywhere he has been. I would be excited to have this guy come to LSU. He's young, intelligent, hungry, and has proven his coaching ability at every stop he's made.

While I like the idea of a proven HC, I think Herman could step in at LSU and be very successful from day one. Especially if we could hold onto Frank and Orgeron.

Agree on Herman. Took a Houston prg in one year from nothing to 10-1 so far this year. They saw what he did at Ohio State as an assistant. Aggressive, offensive minded coach.

I've been the most realistic poster on this subject and have touted TH from the beginning.

For the record...Chip and/or Jimbo are not coming here.

You're quickly losing all credibility. It would take a coward and moron to take the Va Tech job over LSU.

With LSU's current talent he should be able to produce results. We don't expect to win the title every year. But we also to expect to get this shite kicked out of us multiple times by teams with lesser talent.

Miles has been great but he has botched entirely too many games. His refusal to alter his philosophy, even though he has the players in place has the fanbase ready for someone new.

If the NFL comes calling in a few years, then Tom Herman has done something very impressive at LSU. I'll take that all day.

LSU doesn't fire Miles and pay the buyout to get Herman. He will be great coach somewhere, but if he was the best option we would be stuck with Miles for a few more years.

Wouldn't USC be a threat to getting Herman? Looks like he may of lived in L.A. during his radio/production stent.

Honestly if LSU loses to A&M, I don't see a way in hell he is retained.
