Here's what Miles said

"...He will practice with that (broken) hand. He will sustain some running. His personal embarrassment will be ongoing, but Terrence Toliver is a good person, and I suspect we'll get by this."

Miles said that Toliver will be expected to practice each day with the team even though his left hand is broken and in a cast.

"The hand is broken," Miles said. "It will probably be casted and taped and rubber casted for the rest of the spring, but it will not be a lasting issue. We will throw him balls when the read dictates, and he'll have to catch it. When he doesn't catch it, we are going to bark at him. It's just the way it is. He's going to have to block with it. I didn't break it. He did.

My question is if this strategy was cleared by the medical staff.

I agree with Miles, but fix your title or people will give you more shite than they usual do on the rant.

no, I'm sure Miles told the doctors to go frick themselves and he'd risk the lawsuit.

people play with casts on their hands all the time. Maybe not WRs, but having a football thrown at the cast is the least of his worries.

I remember Ed McCaffery playing with a broken hand for the Broncos. Seems I remember other receivers as well, though none specifically.

yes miles said yesterday that as long as it doesn't hurt the hand he will be practicing with the cast and will be expected to perform.

Well, the good news is, if you can catch a football with a cast on your hand, you can catch anything.

Is he playing a hurt player to punish him? Would he be doing the same thing had Toliver broke it during a drill? I think a better punishment would be to just run him all practice. Allowing him to play is no punishment.

For some reason shitbags like yourself always fail to include the whole story. Here's the rest:
quote:

Miles also indicated the hand will probably be “casted and taped and rubber-casted for the rest of the spring” before adding that, to his understanding, there “will not be any lasting issues (into the fall).”

While Toliver didn’t practice today, he will rejoin the team at their next session Thursday.

“Right now, we feel like we can cast it and it’s a simple fracture, it’s not something that’s (un)stable. We feel like there’s less risk to practice,” continued Miles.

Should the risk increase, Miles pointed out, the coaching staff would yank the plug on Toliver for this spring.

So I guess we will be seeing Toliver making some pretty sweet one handed grabs this upcoming season from all the practice he will be getting this spring.

Miles never said it was punishment. That was the OP. I think Miles just said he is not going to get out of practicing or performing because he made a bone-head mistake. I'm sure his punishment will come elsewhere. But Miles, like most good coaches, will keep that in house and not let us be privy to it. But hate on, haters.

i think his punishment is going to be humiliation. it's gonna build him up as a leader, too. if he plays through it.

This is awesome. He'll practice with the cast, so he can't get it hurt and it's going to be hard as shite to catch with it. I'm sure billy g and Les will get on him when he drops some balls, which he surely will. Think about it, if you had a cast and coaches got on you for dropping balls when you only have one hand. That would get annoying, but he has himself to blame. This and some extra laps is good punishment because he'll still be practicing and staying in shape.

They should just send him on a streak pattern every play and never throw him the ball. I think he would get the point after awhile.
