Back to the original question though.

I'd be grateful to know what O should have said when he accepted this job?

Are you in an elite position in your field with resources and talent to actually achieve that goal?

He better say he's here to win championships. And that should be the expectation.

So the same, maybe even lesser results are fine because it looks different? Got it.

I'll be happy with an sec record of 6-2 this year, and expect better next year.

Technically yes (commercial and high-end residential real estate)
But the stars would have to align perfectly for that to happen.
It's a goal....but not a realistically attainable one.
Doesn't mean I'm not working to that end.

Are you changing your tune?

What's there to defend? The last guy had actually been there before, so there was a reasonable expectation that he could do it again? What is reasonable about expecting it with the current situation?

I swear, do any of you have jobs that require analyzing data and taking or recommending actions based on that data?

Can't deny this would be an improvement in terms of SEC records.

You don’t normally see three loss teams, with one of those L’s to Troy, ranked in the top 10.

Literally 5 of the final top 10 teams in 2016 had 3 losses. 3 of them had at least one bad loss on their schedule.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. I think that from where the team was after Troy to where they are now is indicative of an outstanding coaching job. After that Troy game it was in question whether or not we would make a bowl game.

I can’t help but be amused when some of our fans begin to applauded a season of 10 wins, second in the west, another L to Bama, and possibly being ranked 15 to 20 after seeing that ridiculed on the Rant for years now .

Those goal post do you keep on moving for some.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Just like Alabama's near decade of dominance didn't happen immediately after Saban took over. I want badly to compete for championships year in and year out. I want to win the SEC. I want to be in the Playoff. And most of all I want to win that sumbitch. But that's not going to happen right off the bat. As long as I continue to see improvement in our team and program I will be happy because that means that someday we will get there.

Link to me saying that? Doesn't exist.

True but blaming O for everyone else sucking isn't completely fair.

Miles won many SEC games against weak opponents early in his career.

Just so I have you right, you're saying that O leading us to a 6-2 SEC record in a down SEC with a blowout loss to state and a loss to Troy is an improvement over the guy that actually won championships here?

Historically bad losses and beating up on teams firing their coaches is the improvement you wanted?

You talking about when the SEC was in the middle of a streak of BCS championships? The SEC was weaker then than now?

We'd have two losses to Troy if pigs hadn't flown a few years back.

Remember that game?
