Yes. Outs are more important than bases. That’s why people don’t steal nearly as much anymore. The extra base is not worth the risk of the out.
Now, obviously, there are exceptions and you can’t go by analytics every time. Down by 1 with 2 outs late in a game with a pitcher slow to the plate and a great base stealer on 1st? Of course you take the chance there to get the tying run in scoring position. But all things being equal, out > base.

Hey, I said only 1, possibly 2 pitches and they would work outside, I know this. With no hitting last night, they could have tried anything and it wouldn't have been any worse.
