I think his argument that a dual threat qb unlocks a RPO offense in a way that felt locked under Brennan.

1. LSU has never ran an RPO offense

2. An RPO has nothing to do with a quarterback's running abilities.

The QBs mobility has little to nothing to do with the RPO

He’s talking about the zone read which absolutely is a great wrinkle to have. That’s not an RPO. It’s a run-run, either QB keeps or he gives it to a RB.

Drew Brees has been running RPOs for a decade now & isn’t mobile at all.

Nick Foles made it popular recently in the Eagles super bowl year & is not a running threat,

A mobile QB has nothing to do with RPO.

I’ll help your argument. TJ opens up the qb Run part of the run pass option. Myles does run the RPO solidly in terms of handing it off verses keeping it and hitting the quick routes. TJ just adds the option to run get 4-5 yards if it’s there. Whereas Myles doesn’t really look to do that. Which isn’t a bad thing because he knows his strengths.

Exactly.
It can make it more deadly for sure, but the basics of RPO are literally to put ball in the belly of RB while reading the defense and to take it out and throw it if the defense (or a key) is clamping on the run.

Drew Brees is one of the best pocket movers in NFL history. Mobile doesn't mean "scrambling".

His "mobility" was literally the thing that people said was the difference between him and Carson Wentz and was instrumental in his success. BDN was a former point guard. He made so many plays with his feet.

When Myles Brennan runs, it looks like he's trying to carry Dare Rosenthal up some stairs.

Are you trying to make P Beans argument for him? That more mobility is better for an RPO offense?

Several folks said it starting with the first comment LOL.

quote:

RPO. Can mean run, pass OR QB decides in the flow of the play after the initial reads. The number of times burrow ran a delay draw after faking a handoff, looking into defensive backfield and seeing them turn and run are too plentiful to count. Y all are literally arguing about adjacent principles incorporated into philosophies. For instance, it is possible to run a zone read with a pass option.

Rocket science to the ranters on here.

Man did you and P Beans go to the same school of argument? He points out something you're completely wrong about and you don't address it and argue something else.
