Kuhn,
Can we pitch tents at the Farmer's Market? Also, can we hold spaces if we pay up front? Thanks for the info. We appreciate it.

I'm flying up there and only a couple of us are going. Looking for a place to tailgate though.

Kuhn, Have reservations for Garibaldi's Friday night, is the Blue Marlin better? Also staying at the Hilton Columbia Center downtown, can we walk to the game? Lastly, know of any restaraunts that would stay open late after the game? Thanks

Pitching Tents the night before in the Farmers Market I believe No, Its 1st come 1st serve. I know me and my buddies have left our tent outside the stadium and then came the next day. But with the fair I would just wait till Saturday and bring your tent in the morning the fair crowd is usually a rough one.
In regards to Blue Marlin, it all depends on what you want, its the best seafood in Columbia and is in the heart of the Vista where after dinner you can go out and get drinks and have a good time.
Its about 2-2.5 miles from the downtown Hilton, I would call usually some hotels run shuttles. Personaly I would drive get there around 1 or 2 and set up tailgate. Traffic is always awful after games, so it might be an advantage to walk...but it all depends on the weather I guess it suppose to be perfect so if your up to the walk I would do it.
Being from the Panhandle
I hope they take care of Carolina Sunday.
Ill keep trying to answer yall's questions

What time does the fair open?
What time do SC tailgaters normaly set up? I heard there is a time limit on tailgating.

Your hotel is in the Vista (brand new hotel and really nice in a great location). Garibaldi's is really good, although a bit traditional (if you go, get the flounder). The Blue Marlin is a trendier "Southern" seafood restaurant. The Blue Marlin is a short walk from your hotel; Garibaldi's is in 5-Points, so you would need to drive (although only a mile or two).
You could theoretically walk to the game from your hotel, but it is a long walk. You could also walk to the shuttle leaving from the Colonial Life Center (basketball arena two blocks from your hotel).
The game won't be over till Midnight, so you won't find much open restaurant wise -- other than the IHOP near your hotel. The bars close at 2:00 a.m.
Some other fine dining restaurant selections near your hotel (these are local, non-chain places; there is a Ruth's Chris in your hotel):
Motor Supply Company
Ristorante Divino
Nonna's (for dessert)
For something unique, try SakeTumi -- it's a sushi/tapas restaurant.

It aints like BR, people usually set up maybe 5 hrs before the game not 12. I went to the game last year in BR I was blown away awsome trip though. I would think people would start setting up around noon probly

You have to hit up Lizard's Thicket on Sunday.

Any recommendations for Sunday brunch? With the wives! Thanks

What about tailgating with a tailgating trailer? Where do you recommend that we part with it? We'll need to reserve at least 6 spots for the truck/trailer and 4 for canopies, etc.

I would 1st try Famers Market, then just parking lots around Williams Brice, or in front of the fair

So you don't think there will be any problem parking our trailer? You can check us out by the way [link=(www.fifthstring-tailgating.com )]https://www.fifthstring-tailgating.com[/link] Our website hasn't been updated in a while though.
