My boys and I finally had a chance to make our first scrimmage of the year today. My youngest hammer’s favorite player is Tommy White.

We thoroughly enjoyed the game then we stayed so the kids could try and get autographs. Tommy started at the 1B dugout and signed until he ran out of kids in RF. He took pictures with kids spent a little time. It was really neat to see. I know it’s not uncommon at the Box but these guys don’t get enough good credit when they deserve it.

Thank you Tommy you made at least two kids day today.

He's gonna be a top 10 draft pick. Kid is a monster. .374 with 24 HR and 105 RBIs is crazy in just 66 games.

When you have a bat like that, they find a place for you to play.

His fielding improved quite a bit throughout the season last year. I am not sure you can write him off in the field entirely. He certainly can make it as a DH however I'm hoping his work in the field continues to pay off and increase his already bright future.

I watched Skenes do this last year when we played Tennessee. He walked from the dugout to right field and took a picture and signed anything a kid asked for. He did it again after the game. I was throughly impressed and I’m glad it rubbed off on others. He was one a kind on and off the field and a perfect mentor for the younger players.

Tommy White will probably play first in the pros. You are held to a higher standard with the bat as a first baseman in the draft…but his bat is good enough to meet that standard and then some.

Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com has him 7th in his early 2024 draft rankings, fwiw.

I don't pretend to know where White will be drafted, but Jacob Berry went 6. He was no wizard in the field.

Glad to see big players do that. Last year I got tickets on front row right by the dugout for a Sunday game against Bama and all the kids were great but Skenes and Crews would walk to where they were going but stayed 15 feet away from fans and just ignored them and didn’t sign anything. Told my son it’s probably because they now have deals to go places to get paid for signing and so they don’t sign at games anymore. That’s when Beloso became my favorite guy. He talked to us probably for 20 minutes and went down the line before and after the game and then went down the line outside the stadium and signed and took pics with everyone. The young kids next to us even asked Cade: “why couldn’t u hit today” Cade handled it like a champ and laughed it off and said that’s the great thing about our team is there are a lot of great dudes on our team and always someone that can pick u up when u have a bad day. Huge fan of his after seeing that. Great young man!

I'm thinking 1st base at the next level.
