No and that was what I tried to say in a roundabout way.

I think RP probably scared off some elite QBs who wanted to play early, so I can understand us not being all that deep at that position for a year or 2. However, our QB situation coupled with all the elite WR talent we have either here or coming with the '10 and '11 classes, should be attractive enough to land us an elite QB in this next class

I dont see it...

I dont think any elite Qb will want to come to LSU at this point in the game.

We are on the downward part of the college football cycle and it will be some time before we start to trend back up, I think.

I want a slightly above average QB that does not make mistakes. If you have that with a good running game and dominant lineman then you have all you need on offense.

We all agree as posted earlier in this thread. The only problem is we wont be looking at a dominant defense this year and maybe the next.

Its not part of the Chavis system.

Have to disagree on Flynn. The 16th rated QB in the country(Russell was only 6th)and could have had gone to Alabama after Russell committed had he chosen to. Only one of the 15 guys rated above Flynn won a MNC, Leak at Florida. He won two rings(yes even for the redshirt year)and is a hiccup away from being a starter in the NFL. He was and is a top flight QB in my book. Certainly he was far advanced above anyone the Tigers currently have at QB. On the other hand, it's quite possible that all 3 Tiger QB's are more talented than Mauck but none have proven to be close to he or Flynn as game managers.

Both JJ and JL have more talent than Mauck or Flynn.

Talent isnt the problem...

You are entitled to that opinion, regardless of how wrong it is.

Even if we signed the #1 high School QB in the country Miles would let him rot on the bench.

Not sure if they have better talent, but both of LSU's two experienced QB's have talent to burn.

They just can't read a defense. Its not their fault either, its a pattern.

Hell, SHepard didn't know shere to line up in the backfield when the season was almost over, and he is a very bright fella.

Its the coaching. For both. If you brought in Dan Marina via some twilight zone time warp I would betcha he would be a head case in 6 months.

Yes. Where was he in the florida game or for that matter, any other game? Plus he wasn't a pure QB coming out of high school.

They both have more raw talent.

They just dont have the presence of mind to control the game instead of the game controlling them. Thats the coaches fault.

At this point I dont see either one of them taking us anywhere besides the Peach Bowl...

Mauck lead us to a title when he was like 24 years old. Flynn was a 5th year senior for his title run. Maturity matters. Those guys were leaders. Our QB's just are not there yet but they still have time. Part of the problem is the way they play and part of the problem is their lack of leadership. JL can't be the leader of the offense as the 2nd string QB and JJ needs to quit with the shitty body language and winey attitude every time he misses a WR or holds the ball too long.

That is your stupid opinion. The fact is that recruits and parents always say great things about Miles and his winning percentage is at the top of the SEC.

while true, the last 2 years have bruised that statistic and it was the way we lost. Also, it is widely projected that we are on a decline....a perception Les has yet to slow down.

Statistics can be very misleading.

Im surprised over the last two years LSU hasn't gotten a Mallet type transfer. I would think some backup going to be soph or jr would look at LSU, see the problems we have, and think that they could come be the guy here.

Which teams went after JJ? I'll hang up and listen.

I realize what his record is the last two years... but he is still a NC winning coach at a power program and he has NFL coaching experience. He has a lot to sell to a recruit. I don't think he should have any trouble getting an elite QB if there is one in one of our recruiting strongholds. The problem is they don't have elite QB's in Louisiana, Mississippi and East Texas every year. It's not like we have been getting guys that didn't have a box full of major D-1 offers. The worst part is we shold not have been having these conversations if RP could have kept his head on straight. He was the elite QB that should have been starting the last two years while our other QB's maturied on the sidelines and didn't have their confidence battered.

Where does this insane idea come from the JJ has more talent that Matt Mauck? That is freaking retarded.
