Why all the hate on Tim? Could there be some truth in what he said? If so, why can't he speak his mind?
You're a fricking idiot.

quote:Actually according to Brando reasoning if the players were black in Hockey it would not matter. LSU fans would not see their blacknessbecause of all the equipment they were wearing so our black phobia would not come not play
What? the football players are mostly black??? When does hockey season start?

If our teams had more white people, we'd win more games.

I was a big charles scott fan for a while. until I got a sideline pass for one game, dude took off his helmet and it turned out he was black. I was so shocked I just left the stadium. A black dude named charles? It was nuts

Tim is correct. I hear the N word at least once every time I go to a LSU watch party here in Tampa Bay. Makes me sick to hear it so I stopped going.

Very surprising Brando would have said that. I have found over the last few years, he is one of the guys on big time national sports scene that consistnely gives LSU props.
I am very interested to see how long it takes other media outlets to pick this up and see what kind of mess ensues. This should be right up there with "nappy headed ho's" comments by Imus.

I check Brandao's show from time to time, to see if there's an interesting guest. He, himself, is far from interesting, and usually monopolizes a guest's time by making long-winded statements couched as questions. But, I digress.
I heard part of this rant today, but didn't hear Brandao's theory of racial preference by consumers of LSU sports. He was into another diatribe insulting Southern people in general who do not support college basketball the way we support college football. It's a pet peeve of his. I changed the station upon hearing this.
Brandao is a narcissistic windbag. His interviews suck because he injects too much of himself, diminishing the guest and subject matter. The only thing that makes his broadcast interesting now and then is that he does have numerous big-time connections and gets top-shelf guests.
That said, if his words are accurately depicted in this thread, he may be at least somewhat correct. "Racist" is a slippery term that means different things to different people. If he meant to say that white fans are bigoted toward black basketball players, he describes a very small subset of fans. If he means that whites are on average less enthusiastic about basketball when there are no white players or very few white players, thus resulting in less attendance at the PMAC, he describes a larger subset, though probably still a minority of fans.
Blacks became more interested in golf when Tiger Woods started winning tournaments. The same will happen if NASCAR ever has a successful black driver. White people all over the country loved Larry Bird's Celtics and Christian Laettner's Duke Blue Devils. It was not just that they were winners -- there are winners every year who are less popular. People identify MORE with players of their own race or ethnicity. If Brandao suggests there is something morally objectionable about this, it is just another dumbass position he proclaims -- nothing new there!

I heard the part where he made fun of people who don't know Coach Trent Johnson's name. What a dickhead. What basketball coach is a household name in his first year? (Okay, Bobby Knight is the exception) If people just don't dig basketball as much as they do football, so what?

YEah that was the part. Right after that he went into his theory how LSU fans like Football because well they all look purple and gold from a distance
I think we actually in NOrth Louisiana get a replay of the show if you are listening to it on 99.7 fm. I think it is a morning show elsewhere.
