Otherwise, interceptions with good hang times and enough distance could be an option if LSU's punters get hurt.

This? Is hilarious.

Honestly? What I see right now is an 8-4 team. LSU plays in the SEC, not the Sun Belt.

I'm coming down with the positigers on this one. I feel like we're more of a 10-2, maybe 9-3 team.

I get the sense that our defense plays up to the level that they feel they need to to win-- no more. We're playing a crappy Sun-Belt school? Effort=5 on a scale of 1-10. An SEC-West opponent? Maybe a 7.5 or 8. A top ranked opponent? Go all out for the 10 and hope you can maintain that.

To me, it's as though our DC and co. are saying to them, "we're playing (blank team) today, so go out there and play as hard as you need to to beat them!"

Good thoughts, Carl. While I agree that there is still much room for improvement, I still think this team loses only two games. Look at the schedule. Miss State, UGA, then UF. Crowton should get a chance to try some more passes down field in the next two games. Miss State is, well, Miss State. Honestly, anyone think UGA is good? That defense is aweful, particularly the secondary, and it was supposed to be UGA's strength. On the other side, LSU's defense has played well the last two games and actually looks to be ahead of the offense at this time. With some improvement over the next two games, LSU has a decent chance at home against the Gators of yesterday. Then, there is a bye week. Obviously, each game should bring new questions and answers about this team, but it's not inconceivable that LSU could be 6-0 before the bye week.

LSU needs to be focused each week, 1 game at a time. Respect for the opponent is necessary in contiued improvement. Question marks are still apparent even for Miss State. Take nothing for granted , but the running game seemed to be lacking.

When we need a dose of reality, Carl is the man for it. Regettably , unless J.J. grows up really fast (which is at least a possibilty)this is an 8-4 team. Every other contender in the SEC, plus Georgia and Arkansas, is far more advanced offensively than the Tigers right now.

Good read, Carl. I really enjoy your comments. I also have to agree with you that we are looking at an 8-4 team unless this offense gets a lot better. Developing a deep ball would be priceless.

Surely we have more of a playbook than we have shown so far. after watching the "wildcat" run successfully time & time again on saturday, and even again today in the pros with all the spread offenses, maybe we will allow our # 1 ranked hs spread offense quarterback a chance to run more than one play at a time. how about putting him in for a series. or God forbid , maybe even 2. we would have a hell of a lot better chance to hit a big play than what we have shown for 3 games now . maybe the staff hasn't felt the need to show what they hope will springboard our offense. time will tell. let's hope for the best. heavy on the hope

Wow is it going to be a tough season for a lot of you! Undefeated? 1 or 2 losses? Playoffs? Playoffs? Playoffs? LSU is in BIG TROUBLE. Guess what you can't run the ball at all! You backs are mediocre and O line is just plain garbage! 4th and 1 and you can't pick it up? What are you going to do against a Bama front, or a Florida front? When you can't run the ball you become much easier to defend. Ypu can drop linebackers in to coverage and cut off passing lanes. LSU flat out can't run the ball, why, out head coach has no clue what he is doing and Greg Struwanda needs to be fired! Our o line is undisciplined and needs a serious arse chewing. If you see our team getting better (excluding the d) you aren't watching the same game as me. This team loses 4 games! Unless the O line VASTLY improves!

I said from the get go that LSU was going to be 8-4, even though Washington beat USC there may have been another game played that day that showed us even more, the Vandy Miss State game. Miss State is horrible this year, and they handled buisness at Vandy. I do believe that both Georgia and Ole Miss are both over rated, but we play both of them on the road this year, our defense has shown improvements in every game thus far which is a good thing, but even if our defense holds Georgia and Ole Miss to 24-27 points we haven't shown a good enough offense to score that many points against a Georgia or Ole Miss defense. We don't stand a chance against Floida or Alabama this year. Best case scenario we go 10-2, my prediction 8-4.

Thanks for catching my mistake, TigersRuleTheEarth. (Thought I'd memorized that freaking schedule...)

You are right about having that extra day before facing ArKansas, right after playing Ole Miss. It's a night game, right? If so, that's obviously to LSU's advantage, given its streak of Tiger Stadium night gm. victories.

This is how you saw the 2008 Peach Bowl:

Carl Dubois:
quote:

My guess: Without a big scoring play from the defense or the special teams (or both), Georgia Tech wins this game and does so convincingly. Trindon Holliday, Colt David and Patrick Peterson could be the stars of the game for LSU.

The Final Score of Georgia Tech's "Convincing Win"? LSU 38 Georgia Tech 3. Besides whiffing on the entire game, NONE of items you mentioned above happened, unless you want to hang your hat on a Colt David FG late in the 3rd quarter. The last score of the game.

Good post Carl. I agree that right now the Tigers look no better than 8-4. That will change (I'm hoping). The Georgia game will tell us a lot about this team.

Et Tu, Brute?

LSU wins with a bit of a struggle at Moo St.

Goes into Georgia and win 42-24

Makes Tebow cry again in Tiger stadium.
I'd rather look forward through Purple and Gold glasses, then look back through my own expectations.
