It will a depend on Oline play, can they find a left tackle, and can Mett continue to develope. If those things don't happen any OC will be shite.

good point....beat me to it. hopefully getting Stud out of the box and in the players faces will get us up and going again. the oline played very well in '11 and I expect it to be much improved this year. JMO.

Vince Carter for example. Carter was a better athlete than MJ but MJ had that it factor.

I saw them both play in Chapel Hill and other than the it factor I must disagree. MJ was the best athlete I've ever laid my eyes on. JMSO.

get better.

I think it is a home run hire for the time being. He will have a talent gap unlike the NFL, first of all. Second, his offense should be something Les is happy with anyway. Third, he has a rep for developing QBs. What else do you want?

Tiger rag is a bunch of dickwads. Everyone including them was calling for a proven offensive coordinator. That's exactly what LSU hires and they still bitch about it

Nothing will change. And the QB will still have a club foot.

Immolating MJ would've been the only way NBA players could have equaled his success.

I was hoping someone picked up on that.

Just pointing out that the man is highly qualified to run the tigers offense and anyone injecting negatively towards this hire is a fool!

Anyone who doesn't see the great ability that Mett has from his performance last year is an idiot! I had to ride home on a private jet after our loss to FLA this past year and listen to several friends bemoan Mett's lack of footwork and leadership - it made me sick - the lack of OLine support and lack of creative play-calling by the coaches lost that game - Mett kept LSU in it - the deep throw to OBJ would've won the game if not for the fumble.

Mark my words - barring a regression in work ethic and leadership (which I believe will be the exact opposite of what will happen with 1 full year of experience under his belt, plus a more focused QB coaching effort under CC), Mett will be go very high in the draft. He made throws under great pressure this past year that our QB's in the past haven't made in years. He has the arm and the toughness - the makeshift OLine early in the season created not all, but many, of Mett's problems with interceptions and over-throws - for every one of those interceptions, there were at least 2-3 instances of broken blocking assignments and/or dropped passes by our young receivers. All should improve next year, and Mett will be the leader and catalyst!

The TigerRag guys, Derek Ponamsky, and Matt Moscona are all showing doubts about Cam C because the Baltimore people just fired him. If not for the worst defensive play in NFL history the Broncos would have beaten the Ravens in rd 2 and the Baltomore guys wouldn't be so smug about their opinions of Cam.

There has not been a single college OC with a more accomplished resume hired anywhere in the nation in the last 10 years. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, see Monte Kiffin, but LSU made a home run hire. We'll just have to wait and see if it pays off.

We literally have nowhere to go but up as far as play calling goes.

The play calling has never been the biggest problem. That's just what fans say when they can't recognize what is really wrong.

They call the OC a coordinator for a reason. He needs to oversee every aspect of the offense and make sure that there is no aspect that is falling short way before it costs you a game. It is what Crowton was terrible at. He understood scheme, understood how to attack defenses, but had no control over how the WRs or OL was being coached. I don't feel like we had that on the staff over the last two years either.

Cameron should bring the whole package to this team. He will know very early on to him if the OL is not playing or being coached up to the needed standard. He will know very early on if the WRs aren't on the same page with the WR. The hope will be that we are not constantly trying to fix our shortcomings on the fly the way we have consistently needed to do over the last few years and instead get those things worked out very early so that we actually mature and develop during the year rather than go from below average to average.

I don't think people realize how potent this LSU offense could be with above average pass protection and an OC who will make the passing game somewhere close to 50% of the offense.

Couldn't agree more. We need look no further than John Chavis, who Miles has given complete control to since 2009. Every year since then this defense has grown exponentially in terms of consistent above average play. Chavis has complete control over the freak athletes Miles and Frank Wilson bring in year after year and his ability to work freely has made LSU's defense great

Wouldn't it seem to follow that if Miles gives another veteran coach the same access and same freedom to completely change the culture and establish a true offensive system that utilizes the outstanding recruiting.

It appears to be all up to Les, if he decides to let go and allow someone else to have a bigger fingerprint on the offense than his own
