This is true. They are still held to the same standards as any other LSU student athlete. They have physicals and drug testing via LSU Athletics, and they have to maintain a certain GPA and number of hours to be able to practice/perform/compete. They are assigned trainers through the athletic department and lift multiple times per week, year-round. They are not just any old club team.

My daughter was at the competition supporting one of her former dance students who is on the Texas Tech team. She saw the LSU hip hop routine and afterward texted me saying how awesome it was. Having grown up as a competition dancer and having danced professionally on Broadway and is now a dance teacher, she knows her stuff when it comes to dance. If she says they were awesome, they were awesome.
