It seems like most are too focused on defending Ed as if he has anything to do with the discussion.

It’s simple, A&M knew who they wanted. They didn’t dick around and play games. They kept it quiet, didn’t take no for an answer, got it done, and quick.

Whether you think it’s too much money is irrelevant. Their university endowment is massive. They have the money. The point is they didn’t let bullshite get in the way

TLDR: Still fire Alleva

I’m tired of reading about Jimbo on our board.

A&M is historical underachievers. They’ve hired an underachiever .

Texas is on the way up...Jimbo is about to find out what it means to be the B program in that state.

$75 million over 10 years is absurd. Especially for Jimbo who is a coach trending down after the loss of Winston and despite his highly ranked recruiting classes.

Plus, Jimbo now has to recruit against Herman at UT who is recruiting at a high level.

Unless Jimbo can win multiple NC'S, this was a colossal waste of money for A&M.

They also made their bed with the guy guaranteeing that money. They're stuck with him and are risking their program's future by a large margin. Before anyone tries to say TAMU is one of the richest programs...yeah, they are but no program is going to handle a 75 million buyout easy if things go south fast.

I think Jimbo will give them great talent and probably a 3-4 loss team with moments between that where they end up with 2 losses but that's about it. I don't think they're ever going to be relevant. TAMU is still TAMU and you have to seriously question how good a coach Jimbo is. They really only had 1 amazing season and then the rest of the good ones with Winston. Rest of his career there as HC was extremely mediocre with elite talent.

As much of a shite show Alleva is to this program, maybe he got this one right. Not saying Orgeron was a smart hire but if Jimbo was asking this kind of money I would've told him to frick off too. The only coach worth that is Saban.

How so? What if he wins 1 NC? What if he wins no NCs, but wins 3 of the next 8 SEC titles?

Guaranteeing his contract means he can sit on his arse all he wants and retire. He doesn't have to do anything at TAMU and they still have to pay him. Seems like a really silly buyout to me especially when it seems like Jimbo completely checked out at FSU. I don't even think Saban's entire contract is guaranteed.

What about the rant excusing Jimbo for being 5-6 because he lost his starting QB Francois against Bama?

Did any Ranter watch FSU's offensive line in 2016 and during 2017 August drills?

Who is responsible for recruiting that sieve of a line? God forbid if LSU had gotten Etling or Brennan injured because there would've been no end to the criticism of Oeaux and Grimes.

If Jimbo goes undefeated and wins SEC and NC he cost half a million per win. Contract is crazy but LSU should of done it for Jimbo. Instead we are paying 6.5 mil a year for HC, OC, and DC and HC is the worst one and insecure and will drive the other two away

LSU has less money than A&M. Louisiana has less money than Texas. Is it what it is.

Lately he’s underachieved. He has had 3 loss seasons every year since James. Clemson blew by him and he has more talent.

I think your are right, Jimbo's shipped sailed and glad it didn't stop in BR.

Glad to see aTm spend money on a 1/2 assed coach.
