They're arbitrary parameters.

Stidham was only 6 yards off of also being in that group. Ehlinger threw for 400 more yards and 9 more touchdowns. Lawrence threw for 400 more yards and 14 more touchdowns, with 1 fewer interception.

Tua threw for 1000 more yards and 27 more touchdowns. But oops he had 1 more pick, he must suck.

Everything he said. This thread is built on some arbitrary bullshite stats. Burrow was 18th out of the top 40 QBs in TD-to-INT ratio. That's at least a decent stat. What was he, ranked in the 30s for yards? Sounds like our QB was a play it safe type of QB. This is LSU. That's the only QR we're used to.

JB had half as many pass attempts and 409 yds less than MF prior to last year...not to mention a new offense and wrs. I’m amazed how some of you can ignore this as if it’s not important

Half of LSU's 16 touchdown passes came against teams with defenses ranked 129, 114, 108, 112.

In five games against teams with top 30 defenses last season, LSU threw a grand total of 1 touchdown pass.

LSU went four straight SEC games without a touchdown pass.

LSU threw a total of 8 TD passes in SEC play, 3 of which came against Ole Miss. This also includes the 7 OTs against A&M.

Mullen took Aranda to the woodshed? Florida's offense only scored 20 points. Burrow threw 2 picks in the last 2 minutes with one being a pick 6. The defense wasn't great that game but they didn't get "taken to the woodshed" either.

1200 yards passing the last 4 games.

Experience is extremely important

Gets passing stat of 2800 yards, and 3200 yards of total offense, claims they are "bullshite"

I like how you cherry pick your criteria to fit the needs of your sycophantic post.

Does that 1200 include a 7 OT game? Does it include Rice? If so, very interesting stat. Very interesting indeed.

shite, that includes Arkansas too. 195 yards? Incredible. Razorbacks were a pretty stout team last year.

35 QBs threw for more yards in 2018 alone. 41 QBs threw for at least 2800 yards.

LSU's 2894 passing yards was only 7th in the SEC, 4th in the SEC West.

With Burrow crushing it last year, his passer rating must be amazing. Lemme check ESPN. frick. he's not on the first page. Oh Here he is. Second page. At least i didn't have to look much. 70th in the country. Amazing.

All good and he could be just what we need at QB. But I still say he ran too much last year. And I realize if we're going more RPO he may run plenty this year. You have to like his competitive chops though.

ON THE SAME TEAM. Burrow dealt with a changing team, teammates, new OC, no offseason.

Comparatively Burrow attempted 39 passes vs 78 for Flynn before being a starter.

Flynn's NC season he had a lower completion percentage, 500 fewer yards, lower yards per attempt and lower TD/INT ratio. 21/11 vs 16/5.

Rushing: Flynn 215yds 4TDs/Burrow 399yds 7 TDs

Just wanted to drop in and point out, from November on, Burrow was 10th in the nation in ESPN’s QBR metric which weights strength of opponent and has rushing components implemented as well.

After LSU’s first 4 games (September 29th on), Burrow was 15th in the nation.

Not terrible. Can improve with more practice time under his belt.

jeez, Ree, can you cherry pick those numbers any more than that?

2800 yards is barely more than 200 per game, and 15 TDs is barely more than 1 per game. Yawn.

5 INTs is good, but that's also a function of how much a QB throws, and whether the passing scheme is aggressive or tentative.

ETA: I love Burrow, so this post isn't a shot at him - it's at Ree.

excuses. New QBs, and ones with new OCs, do very well all over the country.

The 2nd sentence is a scary stat. Hopefully next year is much better, should be given more experience and what we return but we weren't very efficient vs top defenses last year.
