outside of Louisiana, LSU has a reputation for:

1) Exporting great pro players in all sports

2) Being nearly bankrupt

3) Impatient fans/ruthless micromanaging of coaches and contracts

One of these do not fit.

is that a fact?

your sphere of interaction must be very small.

I interact with a lot of people all over the country and the vast majority have not made a judgement yet. I have met more that questioned our defense than coach O.

Every person we talked to said how much they loved Coach O, mainly because of his Barstool Sports connection.

Sure...but most casual observers LOVE big, loud, caricatures of folks from Louisiana. It looks and sounds so unique to them.

We ought to be immune to that, the same way I'd assume folks from Boston are immune to folks from South Boston that people outside of New England find so charming.

The issue comes down to...is/was he a good hire and that is an issue for us to determine, not folks who will almost certainly never set foot in Tiger Stadium on Saturday.

BS. Nobody outside of LSU would care to form an opinion in that area let alone be familiar enough with the details to be able to. Way to slip in a defense for Orgeron.

Sucks that only Peterson was on his game enough to rep. LSU through the weekend. Wish Smylie's game would come back around; because it has dropped off a lot in the past year.

USC love the SOB. They wanted him as the head coach. The players, alumni, and media. If it wasn't for Pat Hayden USC would be winning championships every year like Bama.

What Could Have Been If Ed Orgeron Was Named USC HC Instead of Steve Sarkisian

In Tennessee, many think Miles got the Fulmer treatment. Of course O is not popular here because of being on Kiffin's staff and trying to steal UT recruits for USC. Some wanted Miles in the HC search recently.

You’re saying LSU will be winning championships every year like Bama under O.

I’ll hold you to that. No excuses now.

Tell the board about the Heisman trophies you have won. Marcus wanted Eaux as the USC head coach.

Unfortunately it is true. Firing Les Miles was the biggest story for LSU football over the last 5 years. I found out at a rest stop on the NJ turnpike from a stranger with no connection to LSU. Nobody actually thought LSU was going to bring in a big name coach except for in-state fans who actually thought Jimbo Fisher/Tom Herman was waiting in the wings.

Well that settles that. Now we just wait for Oeaux to win championships every year here at LSU just like Saban at Bama. Boy howdy will that be fun!

I'm gonna cool it with saying what I think of the hire.

I just wanted to pop in and say kudos for repping LSU. Phoenix is awesome. I would love to go back to visit one day.

I went to Ole Miss, have a ton of Ole Miss friends, and married into an Ole Miss family.

It was complete disbelief across the board when we hired Orgeron. They were so happy they were floating.

It's like LSU fans are all 10 years old and have no context or have simply forgotten how much we pointed and laughed at Ole Miss back when they made that hire. It was as if we had some how sent a secret agent into their program to blow it up from the inside out. Some kind of ridiculous "Cajun Horse" to infiltrate and destroy their program.

And now, we have LSU fans acting as if none of that ever happened and that he's always been looked at as some kind of combination of Vince Lombardi and Jesus.

It's astonishing what wishful thinking does to one's ability to think rationally.
