Hey Cortez, you're bad, actually awful, at evaluating and developing talent. I've seen more bad routes, drops, and false starts from receivers under you than any other time in recent history.

I think this thread is an attempt to stir some drama. No way in hell you actually think Hankton was worth a shite. His WR rotations during each game alone killed an ungodly amount of drives.

If you like wrong routes, shut ball skills and dropped passes….sure keep him around.

Our. receivers were one step above pitiful this year. LSU can and should do much much better.

Ask yourself when was the last time LSU had a star receiver over 6’ tall.

Would like to see more WRs in the mold of Michael Clayton, Dwayne Bowe, Brandon LaFell, JJeff, TMarshall, BTJ etc. instead of The Smurfs.

He was made co-OC with Sloan after Denbrock departed. Yet, when Sloan was fired he was not tapped to call plays.

been disappointed with the WRs 3/4 years he was here. he didn’t recruit the best 2 he coached.

so as a developer I really haven’t seen it. we drop so many passes

as a recruiter we’ve been great at finishing second

I think the guy is one of the most overrated coaches to ever walk the sidelines in Baton Rouge, and that is saying something, considering that Jabaar Juluke has coached at LSU

I think our receivers have consistently underperformed since he got here.
This is true. Objectively true.

There are many reasons for that, the OL, Nuss/injuries, etc. We all know our offensive woes and that it is a holistic system and all aspects must work in concert.

However, if you watch them specifically you can see the underperformance. I'll give an example...

There were many many times this year where Nuss threw crazy passes where no one was near. These were passes where the WR wasn't where Nuss expected him to be. So if you go back and look at those Nuss was throwing to a spot against zone; the WRs were running through the spots, as in a man-man route. Those are bad reads by the WR, not the QB. That's bad coaching and has nothing to do with speed, hands, etc.

Like a lot of the Offense coaches was only good when he had very talented kids. Who is the last player he coached up to another level? He did recruit a few high level kids yes, did he develop anybody to 1-2levels above where he got them at? No. Once Malik was gone the WR room has been underperforming and under developed with a lot of “high ranked star “ recruits. That’s part on Hankton who was WR/Co passing Game planner with Sloan??.
