I can agree with you there.
That one series set the tone for a big let down season.

Not raining on anyone's parade, but LSU sports has had some down moments. The idea that if you put an LSU uniform on you never quit, never stop fighting, and care as much as the fans that fill the seats isn't always there. That 2011 team lacked some toughness.

Losing 17 SEC games takes quite a bit of work at LSU. LSU won't always lead the conference, but it should rarely scrape the bottom of the West, even when rebuilding.

You're not raining on my parade.
I don't expect a CWS win or even make it to the CWS every year.
I know SEC Championships are special, along with SEC Tourney Championships, and I don't expect those annually either.

I am disappointed when the Tigers fail to participate in ANY form of post season play in baseball.

I realize I replied to you, but I was talking about the thread in general.

It also showed we better find a reliable 3rd starter. Can it be Glenn? Maybe, but you better have a 3rd starter that can win a big game in the post season or you aren't going anywhere.

It is hard to have a dominant #3 starter. I think Nola and Eades are the keys not only having that dominant 1/2 punch but also if they can eat up the innings on Fri/Sat then we have a strong staff to go on Sunday. I believe it is more impressive that Eades only went 4 innings so the pen had to relieve 5 innings on Sat and 6 innings on Sunday!

We didn't have one in 2009.

But we did have tournament pitching gurus Nolan Cain and Daniel Bradshaw. I would put them up as the biggest clutch pitchers in SEC tournaments in LSU history.

I was referring to the NCAA Tourny. All but one of our wins was started by someone other than Coleman and Ranaudo and that was the regional opener against Southern.

I have been thinking this all season. It is very rare that teams have a dominant Sunday starter. Glenn is capable of getting it done, but he is not needed to go the distance because of the innings being eaten up by Nola and Eades. I would be more concerned around tournament time and regionals if Nola and Eades have a poor performance.

The collective of Glenn, Bonvillain, Bourgeois, McCune, Cotton, etc. makes for a pretty solid Sunday show.

Cain and Bradshaw were middle relief guys the majority of the year that had great outings in the tournament. Every year it seems, LSU finds 1-2 of those guys. I think Bourgeois, Bonvillain, or even Cotton could get it done like they did if need be.

Not even close to true, Mike. Two starters are all you need and all we had last time we won the CWS.
