7-1 going into the Bama game.

Loss to a top 4 team on the road where the score didn't show the domination by the opponent (UF 09/Auburn10).

Lucky arse win to a bad team (MSU in 09/Tennessee 10).

Struggled some with Vandy, but ultimately win by 2 or more scores but it is close one score game going into the 4th quarter.

Blowout of average SEC team at home (Auburn 09/MSU 10)

Win against a ranked East opponent on the road that turned out to be overrated where we statistically dominated but got killed by turnovers/penalties and winning late (UGA 09/UF 10)

Less than dominating win against BCS OOC opponent on the road (UW 09/UNC 10).

Only real difference was WVU win which isn't looking that great anymore.

Strong defense
Bad offense
Questionable OL/QB play

I think we go 9-3 again to end the season with a close win against Ole Miss, and then the bowl game will be a crap shoot depending on who we play.

Just sad that it seems like Deja Vu again. Just that the big loss happened 2 weeks later and to an SEC West opponent.

Still, here's to hoping we do better than that, but this season to date isn't that inspiring.

We have a better defense then last year, while the D sucked against Auburn...the offense didn't help out one bit...offensively we're still (even with an improved OL)

And be prepared for many more of the same, as long as Les is coach. Same syndrome as Charlie
Mac - good guy, inherited a top flight program, lock on recruiting, but never an elite level head coach. Result - years of frustrating "near misses", never greatness. I will credit Miles with doing something Mac never could - win it all one year. Les, like Charlie, will always lose two - four games per year as a result of serious coaching deficiencies in one or another area. A huge step UP from Archer, Curley, DiNardo, but never in the top tier.

We lost to Florida at home last year, not on the road.

But, I get your point. This is like the last 2 years, just about, but definitely much like last year.

Yeah, I understand UF was at home, but I believe UF last year was a better team than Auburn this year, and Tebow was coming off a concussion.

In the end, this is what we can expect from Les as long as he's here.

8-4/9-3 with no West or SEC titles.

This is unfortunately a pretty good comparison.

The C. Mac comparison is a good one. Miles got blessed with one of the 3 most talented teams in the country from day one in all aspects.

He also was blessed to have 10 other teams choke their championship chances to back into the title game.

In the end, Miles is what many thought he'd be. Not truly a championship caliber coach. He won ONE with as much luck as anyone can expect with 2 losses. I doubt he'll ever win another divisional title again, much less an NC.

Sad but true thread. Our only hope is for CLM to hire a top flight OC.

its depressing to think about but i have zero faith in Miles putting a top tier SEC team on the field. With him at the helm i seriously doubt we will make too many trips to the SECCG. It just seems that whoever is the big dog in the SEC is always better than a Miles coached LSU team. I dont give a crap about where LSU is ranked, all that really matters to me is how LSU stacks up in the SEC and right now LSU is probably the 3rd or 4th best team overall and the 3rd best team in the west. Take a look at those teams and what do they have that LSU doesnt? they have an offense that is built around their players and solid play at the QB position. Something we havent had in the past 3 years

We have a better running game, but much worse passing game:

Total offense:
2009 - 304.5 ypg / #112
2010 - 317.9 ypg / #100

Passing Offense:
2009 - 181.8 ypg / #97
2010 - 138.8 ypg / #113

Rushing Offense:
2009 - 122.8 ypg / #90
2010 - 179.1 ypg / #35

Scoring Offense:
2009 - 24.9 ppg / #76
2010 - 25.5 ppg / #73

So basically, we are just as bad as last year unless 13 yards is that much better.

Made the same comparison two years ago. It takes a lot out of you as a fan, knowing that we'll never be in the hunt for a championship, no matter what talent we have. If he does win the West again, I imagine it would be a similar situation that the East faces this year. Still, a new coordinator could be the fix LSU needs, given the talent we have.

I just don't think a new coordinator on offense is going to solve a lot of the problems.

Our WRs are undisciplined and can't block worth a damn anymore. Our OL is weak and getting killed left and right.

Our QBs are obviously struggling.

The only positive on offense and place of improvement has been at RB where players are doing better to holding on to the ball and hitting the holes well.

Miles basically hired a bunch of recruiters AGAIN just like he did with Earl Lane. It's taken almost 3 seasons to get our DL part way back to what they were just 3 or so years ago.

The fact that this number has improved considerably and the passing game has not is baffling. An improved power running game makes it significantly easier to air it out.
