I've had season tickets for 48 years since I was 6 years old. I hate mediocrity. You seem to forget that the same coach that you are claiming is medicore or bad is the coach bringing in the top 5 recruting classes. The other coaches for 40 years didn't. Therefore your argument is a pile of half thought out shite. This has been and still is (by far) the best decade of LSU Football ever.

Not sure if I'm of the old gen or not. I wish our offense would have at least played average. But I'm not of the "instant" results cloth and recall us losing to UF in 03 and with a team that NO ONE thought could beat UG (we did x2)went into the LSU/UF game at home and loss 7-19 b/c our offense played average and penalties. our ranking dropped from 6 to 10. IF we cont to improve on D and our O can just move the ball and scope 3times we can win out. Lets let this thing play out before you set yourself on fire. Alot of football left.

They don't see Skip's run of national titles as the Herculean effort that it was. They don't appreciate that Saban and Miles brought the football program to the top after decades of LSU being a upper-middle-class program.

Mediocre is playing for a winning season and to possibly spoil your scheduled top ten opponent. Mediocre is throwing oranges on the field because your team has a rare chance at a major bowl appearance.

Going 5-0 and losing to the #1 school headed by a Heisman quarterback (by 10) is far from mediocre.

Florida held Florida to only 13 points.

Got a question for the kid poster, which 5 to 10 programs in the country do you define as elite vs. mediocre?

Can I buy some pot from you?

My favorite play in the game was Tebow's interception as he attempted to run up the score instead of running the clock down.

Draconian, you're the worst kind of moron. Just because your mom bought you a computer and broadband makes you think you have a vast wealth of knowledge to drop on people older than you.

If mediocre is what we are right now, I'll be in the stands when we're "TERRIBLE" at 8-4, 7-5, 6-6, etc.

I'm not one of the "older generation" you're bashing either. Which is funny, because without these people who need to "wake up" you wouldn't have ever seen a game on cable or had a ticket to the stadium.

How can you call yourself a FAN?

Ironically, a line contrasting deferred gratification as opposed to instant gratification was the only thing I can remember from the hangover haze which shrouded my very first day of class at LSU back in '70, go figure.

Wait'll they grow up and have to live and work in the real world where dreams of instant gratification will leave you rather unfulfilled.

I'm teaching this semester and next in the stead of a tenured prof out on extended leave. Maybe some of our instant gratification youngsters should come on up and sign up for my class next semester and see how much mediocrity I tolerate.

Anyone seeing 47-12, a BCS title, and a 4-0 bowl record as "mediocrity", needs to "wake up" as well!

Draconian -- you start the thread and so that all great programs ( not like LSU & Miles ) stay at the top. Please come back and answer what 5 to 10 programs are you talking about to emulate?

OK - 1 BCS Championship and trouble winning any BCS Bowl games?
Tx - 1 BCS Championship and a one game season each year with OK.
tOSU, MI, AL, TN, GA, ND, MI, FSU, USC (loses to a Pac 10 Patsy a year) and 1 BCS Championship, UCLA, PS ( Been a while since JoePa won it all),

Bring it, man.

That's the problem. We are not under those coaches anymore. LSU has a top 5 recruiting class every year and we get the offense that we had last night. That is what is mediocre. We have the talent to be in the top 15 in offense, but we are close to 100 in the nation in offense this year. If not for a few plays, we are sitting at 3-3 right now. The defense came up big against Miss State and Georgia. We should not be playing like this with this talent. In fact, I think Les Miles' teams have underperformed in the last 3 years. If you look at 2007, how many close games did we play? Look at this year. We have 2 WRs who have the potential to be 1st round draft picks in Lafell and Tolliver. We have a RB that ran for over 1000 yards last year in Scott. We have a very good tight end in Dickson and some other playmakers at RB and WR. We have a potential 1st/2nd round draft pick in Ciron Black. How are we playing this bad on offense? The defense has shown remarkable improvement since the Washington game. The offense has been the same stagnant offense since the 1st snap.

Miles said that this has the potential to be one of the best offensive lines he has had here. I am sorry, but this O line really misses Brett Helms and Herman Johnson. True, we did hold Florida to 13 points. I give big props to John Chavis and the whole LSU defense. I must also admit that Gary Crowton better get this offense rolling or he will be out the door at the end of the year. When you have this potential, you should destroy rebuilding teams like MSU and teams like ULL. We are lucky to be 5-1 right now. LSU is 92nd in offense in the nation. They are averaging 295 yards a game. You take in effect that we played teams like Washington, Vandy, ULL, and MSU and that's what makes us mediocre.
