We would have won 7-2 if we went Noot, Meyers, Primeau and Rizy. Then have Anderson and Eyanson for DBU tomorrow and Sunday
I mean maybe
But pitching your #2 guy, unless you have an insanely strong pitching staff, is probably the most risk you should take
As others have said in the thread, Skenes never should have pitched against Tulane. It worked out, but it was definitely not the right call.
As far as Eyanson vs Anderson in terms of who is the true #1… I think Eyanson has been more dominant this season but I think 95 from the left with the kind of command Kade has is a more valuable tool.
Hopefully Anderson shuts down DBU tomorrow and we don’t have to worry about this convo.

Who starts 3rd game?
Noot, maybe? Against DBU’s fourth guy.

Is DBU gonna do a victory lap when they roll through our bullpen

Jay said on the pregame radio interview he pitched AE because AE could more easily come back and pitch again this weekend or Monday (vs Anderson) if he was needed

You dim-witted fool. You are not a better coach than CJJ. Just shut the frick up and try to enjoy watching our perennial powerhouse of a program that you take for granted.

What? Little Rock has zero runs. Pitcher is doing his job.

Proven wrong. Eyanson is as hot if not better than Anderson at the moment and now you have Anderson vs DBU

Facts are not needed here on the rant.
Be gone, and let the couch coach's run this program.

Little Rock wasn’t going to hit many of the reliable arms. Before their tournament they lost 13 of 14. Noot could’ve started. I understand jay taking no chances though.

Yes they did
Wells pitched decent for them. He held on as best he could. Guy is mentally tough.

Interesting since they struggled with Ware and the pen earlier this season.

You’re not factoring in the risk of burning relief pitching by not pitching one of our aces in game 1.
Of course I’m factoring it. It’s all part of the evaluation.

By doing what Jay did, you have a much better chance of having all of your bullpen still available after game 1.
Yes…at a cost of a guy who is going to throw 100 pitches.

If he had started Evans, not only is he burned but probably another good relief pitcher was well.
To me you have to pitch someone who isn’t Anderson, Eyanson, or Evans for it to maximize benefit. Noot was the obvious candidate IMO.
We would be sitting here today with 3 top line starters remaining…one of which (Evans) is the closer on a close out game if you can end it before he starts.
The risk was Little Rock…a sub .500 team.

If there was a year to pitch off it was last nite.
I think if our bats were really swinging it well i think he would of done it but maybe he did not want to take chances with the way our bats have been so decided to go with Eyanson.

Our bullpen is better than theirs. You’re just being stupid lol.

I think you're missing what I'm saying. I'll quote it
I didn’t miss it. I don’t agree with all of what you said, but whatever you believe goes into weighing the risk of game 1 vs. a sub .500 team.
FYI, losing game 1 is exactly the same as losing game 2. Game 2 is the biggest game of the regional because winning it means you play 1 less game.
FYI, Little Rock doesn’t have an ace. He’s a 5+ ERA guy in a very weak conference. He’s below the other guys we are considering starting ourselves.
And if you are in the drivers seat the pen of any team you play will be depleted. That’s true no matter how you get there. What doesn’t change is the hats you are going to face. Those don’t get tired. So Eyanson vs. DBU is worth the risk of Noot vs sub .500 Little Rock.

He wants his top 2 pitchers on full days rest before supers that's the big picture you don't seem to realize you know when the competition is on your talent level
Posted on 5/31/25 at 2:33 pm to tiger81
Not against LR. Now we don't have a reliable pitcher sunday to win regional. Should have pitched off. Hope it don't come back to bite us all that is if Anderson wins tonight. If not it's even worse situation.
