The QBs knew JD would start next season. The other two would get a chance to compete for the job in ‘24 and Walker didn’t want to wait potentially 3 years. This is what happens when you have a loaded QB room. Calm down people.

Walker's camp said they didn't like him being on the scout team. They weren't having it a 2nd season. It sucks.

Even if he was the backup he would only be 1 QB away with much better reps and practice.

He saw he was the clear #3 and would have to wait 2/3 years to play

Tcu has morris who will be a soph but likely gets an extra injury year
Fla has mertz who will be a sr and likely gets a covid year
Auburn might promise him to compete for job
He will still have to compete

With the transfer portal in play, it’s literally impossible to stack talent on rosters especially at the QB position. It is what it is, we will have good quarterback play for years with the guys that WANT to be here.

so you are saying our coaches are boneheaded to select a QB1 without going through Spring practice? What is this, a banana republic?

there may be a lot of bodies in that room but I’d consider it far from “loaded”

1 Daniels
2 Nuss
And more on the way. That is what happened.

I agree with what you said. The funniest thing about it though is that is exactly what the RB posters hammered Eli Holstein for at Zachary.

I got so sick and tired of hearing how he did not have any chest because he wasnt willing to sit behind WH at STM for 2 yrs... This is probably a great move for Howard. Is it a great move for LSU?? Time will tell.

Well, they're looking at the same 3 guys who were on the roster this year, so...

Daniels appears to be the starter next year. Given that he's the RETURNING starter and there's no new guys in competition, that is a safe assumption. He's also a senior, with one year left.

Behind him, you have(had) two guys; a redshirt freshman and a true freshman. The redshirt frosh got into some games, showed off a huge arm, and made quite a few plays (some questionable). He looked good enough that a lot of fans are clamoring for him to be the starter.

The true freshman got into 2 games, including the bowl (which should show some progress from the year in practice). He looked small, way behind the other two in preparation, and didn't look impressive at all when he threw the ball.

Both the backups have former QBs as fathers, so there's bloodline/at home teaching of the craft. One of those also happens to be an NFL QB coach, so I'd say he might have an edge there

Path looks clear to me... 23 is a lock for Daniels, with Nussmeier getting more drives worked in. Nussmeier then gets 24 and 25.

I think Bech has been talking to TCU coaches and then letting Walker know they want him. I will be shocked if Walker doesn't goto TCU

Walker looked better in his first appearance against Purdue, than Nuss did vs Southern, Aub, UAB, or A&M

No he didn't

And more to the point, Howard, in the bowl (14th game this season), did not look as competent and ready as Nuss did LAST year, against Arkansas (10th game). Nussmeier makes mental errors but is physically ready. Howard isn't physically ready yet. He threw 4 passes total this year.

And I say that, as a guy who thought the plan was Howard in 2024, with Daniels as the bridge to him. Given how aggressive Kelly was against Purdue, even after the margin was ugly, I thought Howard was going to show out. I was excited to see what he could do.
Couple series later, I was thinking "well, looks like Nussmeier is the future".

Yes I can’t blame Howard he potentially could have sat another year and then find out he doesn’t have the job. Good luck to him
