Maybe Miles made a silly choice, but LSU has had success with them last year.

Um...........Pelini was the DC last year. Not Mallory-Peveto.

Andrew Carnegie once had to pay $10,000 because of a mistake made by one of his lawyers. Asked why he didn't fire the lawyer, he said, "Because I've just spent $10,000 on his education." We're spending a season on the education of Lee and the two DCs. And, on both fronts, there have been some ups and some downs. You have to hand it to them for the 4-DE alignment against South Carolina and for hanging on against Mississippi State, when they obviously had more gas in the tank at the end than we did.
Are they perfect? No. Was Pellini? No. Will they get better? We'll get a good indication against Alabama. If we've learned something, perhaps we'll see it then. The teams that are successful over the long haul don't fire guys every 10 minutes. Maybe they will have to fire people at some point. But I think it's too early to write these guys off.

don't know if he is overrated, but our troubles did begin last year. Starting with game six vs UF, LSU has given up least 24 pts to every BCS team we have played since, with the exception of UT in the SEC Champ. And UT's offense was not that impressive, and they turned it over twice in the red zone.

I think Pellini got guys to play hard, but he was no schematic genius.

i'll cut Lee some slack; he's a 19 yo RSF, but the co-co's are highly compensated coaches who i don't privilege to a learning curve. the two good teams we have played and we have looked awful on defense.

Our defensive woes comes down to this.
We have 2 new backers, 2 new cb and 1 saftey that until this season have played very little. You can only ask the defensive line to do so much.
Anyone who knows even a little about football knows that this kind of mix means you are going to see plenty of blown coverages and give up some big plays. Anyone saying otherwise is just plain stupid.
Also just a word about offense.
All those bad throws being made by JLee were also being made 2 years ago by Matt Stafford. It's called being a freshman qb. Just some food for thought. Unless you are one of the dumbasses I mentioned while talking defense.
