He is using the helmet as a weapon

I don't like that sunshine lowered his head into but yes textbook targeting

I hate these plays for the defense... You going for a clean tackle and offensive player lowers their shoulder/head/slides and you hit them with your helmet.
LSU was a victim of this with Devin White and we saw it recently with the Saints. In a bang bang world of football you just can't stop that quickly

Back arched up like a Halloween cat as he makes contact puts him at risk of serious injury

Spearing used to be a penalty. Now everything is targeting.

that is not a clean tackle, he speared him.

Problem is the defender dipped his head and is leading with the crown.
If he kept his head up and hit Lawrence with his face mask, it would not be targeting.
This hot was just as dangerous for the defender as it was for the QB.

I don't have a horse in this race and I was way too into my adult beverages when this happened. It was so strange, it would of been a clean hit to the chest but pretty boy dunked down at the last second. Qb is 6'6", rusher is 6'1".
But the scoop and score they waived off later was a horrible call.

Yea sunshine lowered his head, but it is very easy for that defender to eliminate targeting. If he just lifts his head and “looks in” the tackle, he is golden. Sucks for OSU, but that shite was the definition of targeting.

I agree that it’s targeting.
I think ejection on first offense is bad.

I disagree! If you want to see real targeting, refer to the hit on Clyde, which was rightfully called!

No, the hit on CEH was cheap and dirty. This hit was the bad technique they want to take out of the game

Helmet 6 to 8 inches in front and you got a good clean, legal hit and with your head out front... makes it harder for ball carrier to bounce forward.

Not if there are numbers on each side of a crimson helmet.

in live action, it looked like a clean hit, great sack, send the punt team in.
slow it down, it looked like targeting, but the QB ducked into the defender causing helmet to helmet. that play prevented Clemson from getting blown out
In live action on the catch fumble reversal looked like an in-completion. Boom boom, the ball is on the ground... In slow motion, it looked like a catch and fumble. "he took 3 steps"
So how do we separate the two calls when making these judgments in slow motion or in live action?

It puts the defense in a no win situation.
