This is just like the Tom Herman to LSU rumors in 2016

I think Pat Casey is using his buddy Kendall to release a tweet like we saw yesterday, to see what teams will start calling him and show interest in him. Kendall has always had a lot of praise for Casey over the years. It’s a lot like the Tom Herman rumors we heard in 2016. His agent did that so Texas would raise their offer.
I don’t think LSU has any interest in Casey. It just wouldn’t make a ton of sense for LSU to hire him because of how the Heimlich situation was handled when he was in charge. LSU can’t take that chance and Woodward is a guy who’s very political, and doesn’t like to have a bad image.

I really don't care what Casey does. It does provide another good smoke screen for the real candidate.

Can any school really think they can appeal to him like LSU can? This makes no sense to me. If i were another team and saw he was LSU's "top candidate", im sure i'd strike him off the list as an L and not even look further into him bc LSU is a better gig than anywhere else. lol

This might be a stupid question, but what's the point of a "smoke screen" in this instance?
There are no job openings of a similar profile to LSU right now. Who exactly would the smoke screen be throwing off and why?

There was a report out of LSU a week or so ago that there were quite a few coaches (or their agents) that had reached out to LSU showing interest in the soon-to-be-vacant HC position. That included some that the AD didn't expect to be interested. We all assumed that it was Corbin being referred to. However, it could very well have been Pat Casey, or both. I find it hard to believe Woodward reached out to a 60+ y/o coach that has already retired. It's more likely that he reached out to us and Woodward is doing his due diligence

Confusion between all parties and to keep LSU a step ahead of the media.
Take for example the Texas opening in 2016, they brought O'Sullivan in independently and it was known by all. When he went back to Florida everyone knew he was the main target and Florida did everything they needed to keep him on their own time.
If you're a university and LSU has what is it now 5 coaches who are all locks you're not sure what to believe anymore.
The more names that get thrown out it starts to become media crying wolf.
I can't wait to see what happens.
