Mr. Mile High, I don't have issues with you saying that the govt shouldn't be giving money to banks, auto companies, and insurance companies, but you are way over the line when you include "old people." The "old people" have given and given to make this a great country, and you should be ashamed of yourself. BTW, if, and I will say "IF" you should be so lucky as to become one of the "old people," you better have a huge amount of money to support yourself. Income tends to decrease with age and expenses tend to increase

I am 72 years old and I have to wonder if you had to go to college to get this smart.

LSU was the best 7 or 8 years of my life.

Its not welfare when you get paid, only when others get paid. SS/Medicare are going to crush this country. The entitlement system is completely over the top.

I will make preparations to take care of myself the rest of my life. I will not depend on gov't for that.

inside trade secret, three bowls of chili = 1 glass of Metamucil. We normally cut people off after 2.

This is one place the Government does not belong.

As for you young folk saying to hell with all you old folk! Everyone, I mean everyone will get old if you live long enough. To say you will make enough to take care of yourself when you get old is overloading your arseholes with crap. We thought the same way when we where young but things have away of changing as you get older that you do not have any controll over. Look at what Bernard Madoff did to all these people who thought that they had enough to take care of themselves and how all these buisinesses went under. Don't you dare say that you know how to keep this from happing, because you do not. It has happened to many times and it will happen again. So for you to say you do not need Social Security you do not know what you are talking about you may need it someday for your well being. So stop and think before you start talking about something you have no earthly idea what you are talking about.

The good news as this.As we extend the season for all these playoff games at least the many more injured players will have the benefit of Obama care

Can you imagine what the 2007 LSU football team would have looked like if we had to play 2 or 3 more games after the SEC game in quick succession.

When I first read the headline, I thought that Andrew Hatch was back in the news.

Got it, you can't plan.

I am quite familiar with the topic. And SS/Medicare is clearly welfare. And its going to break the back of this great nation. The savings rate in America for the peak earning years of the baby boomers has been only mildly positive, in fact at one point dipping negative. You cannot possibly expect to retire without savings. And teh baby boomers didn't save. The statistics back me up on this.

1. I don't see this happening quickly (a few more states need to feel slighted by the BCS to get enough votes).

2. If congress wasn't doing this they'd be doing something equally inane.

3. As I am in favor of a playoff, I figure they might as may as well be doing this as something equal inane.

4. Please don't let #3 be used as an excuse to debate playoff vs. BCS, because all of the arguments are rather stale.

Mr. Mile High, if you (legally)accumulate enough wealth to fully take care of yourself, I thank you. I am at retirement age right now, and there is a reasonable chance I'll live another 20-25 years. So, all that Social Security you pay in during your "working years" will help me buy tickets to LSU FB and BB games. Thanks again. Oh yeah, and if the feds don't do something, that will be about the time SS will be broken, and you'll have to pay in, but get nothing out.

I'd far prefer Congress mucking up college sports than actually, you know, governing.

Just remember to vote. We can stop or curb some of this madness with the 2010 mid term elections. The speed at which we are becoming a socialist country and losing liberties is scary. Don't put anything past this administration.

The real problem here is govt handouts If someone needs govt help then give it to them but regulate it. I have seen people on disability because they were overweight. Too many people try to take advantage of the system and its time to start making them pay their share.
