1-4 after 4 weeks of action. That's not good for when they go on the road for a super regional which it looks like they will.

Coach doesn't have the players ready to play? Nahh, not Paul.

They always suck during midweek games. They are just trying to develop players while the opponent tries their hardest to beat LSU because it's "LSU".
Happens every year.

They don't always suck during midweek games. LSU had a huge multi season midweek winning streak.

Can we play a fricking SEC game first?

While there is cause for concern still way too much time left in the year to panic.

That's a cop out...McNeese and UNO shouldn't be anywhere near LSU.

And how did LSU do in postseason play during that winning streak? Maybe Paul is using Skip's theory of treating midweek games more like practice and time to let the younger guys, especially pitchers, gain experience. Doesn't matter if it ends up in a loss. The experience early in the year will pay off in postseason play.

I'm not concerned about this team losing in the midweek when we are going Johnny Wholestaff and experimenting and the opponent is throwing some of their best guys. I'm also not concerned about losing to two of the better teams in the country this past week.

Way to much overreaction going on.

In an era where it's all about RPI and getting a top 8 seed, that philosophy doesn't fly anymore.

Well yeah.

But we've gotta get there. 20+ wins in the SEC isn't the given it once might have been. 17-18 wins puts you on the bubble. And that's where midweek losses bite you RPI-wise.

Point being, you finish top 3 in the SEC unless it's a really down year, you get a national seed. RPI matters more for getting in the tournament IMO. They don't give national seeds based on midweek games.

Well somehow it's worked given we've had this strategy for awhile, have dropped 2+ midweek games almost every year, and have earned 4 national seeds the past 5 seasons

If we're playing this poorly against teams like UNO and McNeese St. what in the frick makes you think we're gonna be looking any better when we're facing SEC teams? Baseball is baseball, sorry.

I wasn't responding to the post you were responding to. I was responding to your post. It has shite to do with it because we've gone 0'fer the last two or three times we've made it to Omaha. We've been beat by teams like Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina in the Supers.

This isn't some rising program, LSU has put itself into the position to compete every year for NC's due to its tradition of winning. That hasn't been the case since 2009, and we've had some of the best recruits in the nation come through Baton Rouge in that time with the best environment to win in. Quick bow outs in Omaha are unacceptable. And frick a national seed, you've still gotta go out and win. National seeds don't mean shite once you're in between the lines.

So what does that have to do with earning a top 8 seed, which is all I was responding to?

If you want to get into postseason results, then that's a different discussion. And our record on the road or midweek losses have nothing to do with our record in Omaha or failure to make it to Omaha

This thread is about our record on the road and what it might mean if we go on the road in the NCAAT. That hasn't happened since 2010. You're arguing something that isn't the topic of the thread
