I also agree that 9-3 is very realistic for this year. However, I would say that if you look at our regular season schedule we only play 4 teams that are on par with our talent(Georgia,Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss). Yes, 3 out of 4 of those games are on the road; but 2 out of those 4 teams are breaking in new quarterbacks and running backs. As a fan of an elite program, 2 years removed from a national championship, I do not think it is unreasonable to expect to split these 4 games.

It's not unreasonable.
The Rant is full of guys like this that think 9-3 is unacceptable. I sometimes wonder about their knowledge when it comes to football.

Most of these same people have no clue what LSU football was like during the early to mid 90's. I'm all for high expectations, but they still need to be reasonable.

Only "sometimes"...damn, I question it daily. I compare most people on here to the guy that told me Alex Barreca would be a dominating star here.

I couldn't agree more. That is the biggest reason I don't post more often. Although as a fan I am really hoping for 10-2. I know it will probably be 9-3 but I will probably be a little upset.

A reasonable person looks at those four games and says 2-2 is a good (and likely) outcome. 1-3 is a distinct possibility.
Agreed. I'd feel better about 2-2 if we had Bama or Ole Miss at home. Also, I get the feeling that at least some people on this board think those two teams are going to finish 6-6. I don't think so.

9-3 is not terrible, especially with that death trap we have called a schedule. Lets gets the guys some big time experience in the trenches, especially our young qb's and the following year we win the whole damn thing -AGAIN
That being said who knows what happens next year.

2011 we win NC no problem.
I think this is what Prominent was talking about. We will have our tough road schedule. How do you know we will be better? This season we line up 2 first round caliber WR, an All American left tackle, an All-American caliber RB (not to mention a proven game breaking backup), and an NFL tight end. But your right we are going to be so much better in 2011...

You guys are all correct. Let's reasonably squash all hopes at being in the national championship this year. We're obviously not a top tier team. Better that we get this in our heads before the season begins that we should expect to lose a few. Come on everybody...let's lower our expectations together. And if we do happen to stumble and bumble our way into the SEC championship game (although we won't because we're not good enough this year), we can humbly forfeit the game to Florida so that they (or USC) may be team of the decade without question.
Thanks but no thanks. I'll go into every game this year with the thought that we can/will win. I'll save any disappointment until after an actual loss.

Quote me anyone in this thread that has said there's no way LSU wins the national championship this year.

No one has conceded anything.

9-3 would be an excellent season, especially when you consider the QB situation and the fact that Les "Dork" Miles is our head coach.

That's really not it at all. People are just trying to be REALISTIC here. I'll be at every home game and most road games, but I'm not expecting this team to win every game when they are going up against 4 teams ranked in pre-season Coaches top 15 (three of them on the road).

9-3 = Successful Season
No, it's not record breaking, but I would be happy with this considering we have some of the same concerns we had last season going into this season.
If I saw 9-3, and helluva improvement in the QBs and D for the future, and no 50 point beatdowns, I would be very pleased.

Our non-conference schedule is a joke. There is absolutely no excuse to lose one of these games.
If we go 5-3 in the SEC, thats a down year. Look at the last decade or so below. I don't care what some of you guys say, it is. In addition to the stats below, Dinardo's first 3 SEC records were 4-3-1 and 6-2, 6-2.
Year
2000 5-3
2001 5-3
2002 5-3
2003 7-1
2004 6-2
2005 7-1
2006 6-2
2007 6-2
2008 3-5

9-3 isn't bad actually.
We are on the road at Bama, UGA, and yes, even Ole Miss. We also have to play Florida and Auburn is always tough. And we know what happened at Arky last year, and I still think we were better than them.
9-3 is very realistic, 10-2 would be nice, 11-1 would be awesome all things considered.
This team could easily go 8-5 again. I don't see that happening, but it's very possible.

He's a Big XII advocate. Looking through his posts, he seems to suck OU off quite a bit.

Ahh, he's probably still bitter about the Big 12's performance in the bowl season.
