What's sad is that I read this whole thread to find encouragement that nothing will stop the game Sat. including a hurricane. The sad part is that it was not until I finished the whole thread before I remembered that it's a football game and there are gonna like be people losing their life and all their belongings in this storm. As a man from La., I've seen hurricane devastation and it's horrific aftermath that can last for years. I hope the game is played but we should all pray for safety/protection for all the folks that will take a direct hit from this storm.

I don't know why you're getting so much hate. 0% chance is too strong a word, as time goes on the computer models are more and more favoring the eye going ~Tampa-Jacksonville rather than Tallahassee straight north, but they're not going to spend the emergency responder resources on football with such a big storm if Alabama is predicted to get whacked which has a fairly probability at this point.

And no, you can't safely say the cone will narrow. A, if that was a sure thing the cone would be narrower right now. B, if you look at the actual computer models that go into generating these cones, you'll see that this storm isn't well modeled by them. 24 hours ago ~80% of them had it making US landfall in Panama City and more or less going straight north which would have Auburn getting hit pretty good. The other 20% were the Tampa route I mentioned before. Today the landfall is about 50-50 but the Panama City landfalls are predicted to follow the coast pretty strongly. Who knows what tomorrow will bring because the models have been unusually unreliable.

Just because the eye isn’t going to pass over Jordan-Hare, there is still a chance the game is affected.

This. I get that you all aren't watching this one particularly closely because Louisiana isn't in play, but it's supposed to be a strong category 3 on landfall, and that's just because Cuba is going to take the brunt of it. This is not a small storm. There's a reason why FEMA is already there. If it doesn't make landfall by Wednesday in central florida, it's probably either moving or cancelling the game. It would be untenable for the state of Alabama to do anything else.

Dude after hurricane Laura 20 miles west of the western eye wall there was no damage at all in those areas. As long as you are on the dry side you are ok. This thing is literally hundreds of miles to the south and east from Auburn.

Sounds like a bunch of 15 year olds on this board that have zero experience with how local and state governments react t storms. It will probably be sunny with a nice breeze from the north but could easily be cancelled because all the state policy and emergency crews would have been put on emergency alert and not available for traffic and security at the game. These days it rains hard and school get cancelled.

Alabama will likely declare state of emergency and the resources to host a game with emergency responders will not be there. We’ve seen this all too often. The Florida lsu debacle was ridiculous in how that was managed by the sec. That game should have never been moved.

I'm a Christian so my virtue is based on how I live for my Savior. Sometimes people respect/appreciate a reality check. Wasn't intended to be self-serving in any way.

Exactly, people on here think that LSU, Auburn, and the SEC has control of this...

I am not concerned at all that game conditions will be bad, in fact will probably be great. However the govts involved are more likely cancel it or force it elsewhere.
