Why in the f... would we just compare the first 8 years...and not the entire body of work.
Because Saban hasn't coached at Bama for 24 years?

Edit: also should have said first 5 years, not 8

Do you honestly think $abun will be there 24 years?
And even so...its pretty obvious this isnt the 70's SEC.
Bottom line...there really is no comparison.

I mean how is Saban supposed to win 6 national championships in 5 years? 13 conference titles in 5 years? 11 bowl wins in 5 years? etc.?

You cant compare $abun tenure to Bears
Its obvious neither the gumps nor you should try.

Clearly, not. I said so in my first post.

then you can compare his next 14 years (as if he will stay anywhere that long)
Point is, judging by their bodies of work, Bear had to start a winning tradition before he went on to have that 70's success. Nick is starting a similar tradition. 2 undefeated regular seasons in the vaunted 2000's SEC is pretty good.

You are clearly an IDIOT
You cannot compare 24 years to 8, 6 or 5years.
Talk to me if you can get Nick to stay there that long than we compare.
Until then the hired gun is nothing more than that.
And thats the "Ugly Truth"

If you can't recognize the similarities, then resort to name calling is what I always say.

Many LSU fans said the same thing, wasnt just gumps.

They gave up 21 to Georgia Southern. We gave up 10 to Georgia.
It doesn't get uglier than that.

The plain truth is what Bear accomplished (more importantly HOW he accomplished it) will probably never be duplicated.
As I recall, Bama would give full scholarships to 4-star recruits just so they couldn't play for others. Scholarship limits are taking care of that one.
Bama played on TV 2-3 times a year (comparatively LSU only played on TV once or twice). Now everyone (practically) gets that chance, so there's a big group of players that go to other schools and know they have at least some exposure to the NFL.
What Bear did was not cheating. Bama had the money to do it and they did. LSU either didn't have the money or chose not to spend it (same net result). It's just that circumstances have changed. And if LSU or Bama or any southern school starts to go on a tear like Bama did in the 70's, there will cries of anguish from Happy Valley to the Coliseum against us.
(case in point - CWS moved a month later to accommodate northern schools - funny that the weather in Minnesota didn't seem to make that difference when USC and Arizona were winning the CWS.)
This is why SEC dominance is so awesome right now. If it was only one or two teams, the others would legislate against us.

If you can't recognize the differences, than you may be the name i called you.

Yeah I remember all that bullshite. I'm trying to figure out who they are going to replace saban with. I seriously can't see him there more than maybe 2-3 more years.
I have heard grumblings from Bama grads that are in the know in Bama, that the football program people over cant stand him and would like to see him go... He is such an a-hole.... it kind of lends credence to the Saban to Texas rumors..

FACT
But what is nice about the attempt at a comparison between Bear and $abun is it pretty much helps damage their own tradition.
Bear built one and "they" crapped on it by over paying a hired gun.

I remember towards the end of '09 some guy looked over and said "do you ever wish we would lose sometimes so we can go ahead and get rid of miles?". Uh, no.
I never wanted us to lose, obviously, but I think alot of us had, at the very least "WTF!" moments with CLM.
What I feel blessed for is that this man has proven not only the doubters but the doubts themselves wrong. He has fielded the strongest LSU team in my lifetime this season, he has carried himself and his program with class, and he is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most insane, entertaning, unpredictable head coach in the entire country. He suits this team and this state perfectly.
The Gumps can have their genius, and I'll gladly take our idiot.

the silence from bama fans in this thread is deafening
Posted on 12/12/11 at 1:04 pm to MsGulfCoastTigerFan
i remember this.....except i remember it coming from alot idiot LSU fans on this board
Posted on 12/12/11 at 1:07 pm to MoreOrLes
These delusional gumps have changed their story and just fall back on their 13 made up NC.
Posted on 12/12/11 at 1:16 pm to MsGulfCoastTigerFan
The ugly truth would probably be LSU's fan base thinking he was an idiot and wanting him gone. The ugly truth would be half the rant freaking out in the first half of the SECCG and saying he was back to his idiotic ways. That seems like truth, no?

Three years ago I read these statements by many in Gumpland. "Les Miles is a Idiot", "where do I send the money to help keep Les Miles at LSU", "anyone could recruit at LSU, Les Miles isn't the reason for all the recruits at LSU".
Funny. I've heard the same shite out of every LSU fan. Starting 3 years ago and quite recently in 1st halves of the UGA and Arky games.

The "ugly truth" is that even if Alabama wins, they have a split national championship.
