They have been there and done that. Why should LSU have to beat al twice?

How true. Nothing shuts the gumps up. If they manage to make it to NOLA for the bcs they will still go on about how LSU had to beat them twice just to be champs. I am really getting sick of all the gumps around town saying they want a rematch. Only losers want a rematch!

If Ok State beats Oklahoma convincingly, I'd like to see the former play LSU in the national championship. Otherwise, a close win or loss, I'd prefer LSU play Alabama.

What you fail to accept is that Alabama already played LSU and lost. Therefore, if LSU wins the SEC Championship game on Saturday, LSU goes to the BCS Title game.

What does LSU have to achieve by playing BAMA again? Why should LSU have to beat BAMA twice in one season to win the BCS? On the flip side, why do you think BAMA only has to split the two games and win the BCS title?

This is football, not baseball or basketball and one game decides the champion. LSU has already beaten BAMA. BAMA finished second in the SEC West. So sit back and accept the facts.

Just because it's Nick Saban's BAMA team and you have a good team, it doesn't deserve the BCS game.

It's an accepted "Fact" that LSU is the best team in the country. It only stands to reason that another team, with almost identical margins of victories against common oppenents, whose only loss was to LSU in a game in which they OUTGAINED LSU, missed 4 FG's, and lost in overtime would be the 2nd best team.

Okie St., Stanford and VT say: You had your shot, you lost. It's our turn.

I personally don't give a shite who the Tigers play. The only game that means anything at this point is the LSU-Georgia game.

actually, the OP makes a sound argument.

Regardless that LSU beat Alabama during the regular season, if they ('Bama) are still the number two team, then by straight logic, No. 1 should play No. 2 for the MNC (funny how the "M" in "MNC" actually means "mythical"...damn, we really do need a playoff).

I tend to agree with the Bama fan's argument. The posts above trying to argue against an LSU/BAMA match-up are lame, imo, and lack good reasoning.

Finally, I don't really see it as a rematch. If 'Bama is truly the second best team AT THE END OF THE SEASON, then bring 'em on!

Gumps are a stupid breed. They insist they are the 2nd best team because they lost to LSU in a close game but don't want anyone to examine the actual wins or schedule they played compared to the other 1 loss teams.

Genro a lot of your buddies over on TideFans didn't think yall deserved a rematch after yall lost to LSU:

LINK

In fact more than one said if the roles were reversed they would've thought it was unfair for the Tide to have to beat LSU again. Funny how now the only thing that matters is "the two best teams should play."

If you take all of that away, what objective criteria will you use to determine who is second best?

Agreed but Bama ain't it.

Had LSU beaten only two teams in the BCS top 25 and lost to Bama at home would you think we would be the 2nd best team?

The BCS was set up so that the #1 and #2 teams could play. It says nothing about the "best" two teams playing.

We already had that game. You lost, in Tuscaloosa. Now it's someone else's turn to try to prove they are the best.

If Bama beats LSU in the NC game, any reasonable person would have to call that a tie and give LSU the edge based on the body of work.

Bama not playing in the conference championship game is not being given enough weight IMO. In college football, you can't just assume a victory against an opponent that is good enough to beat you if you have an off night. Yeah, if Bama had not lost their division race, they probably would have beaten UGA in Atlanta, but it's not a given. UGA's not in Bama's class right now, but they have players and know how to win games.
