It should be OK.St. What happened totally discounts the need for SOS. Is Alabama better than Ok.St.? Yes. Is Alabama's loss mo' better? Yes. Did Ok.St. play a much more difficult schedule for nothing? Absolutely.

I agree, from my point of view LSU and Bama are the two greatest teams in CFB this year. But that goes with a slight bias towards SEC teams.
Posters have already brought up 2006 Michigan and Ohio State. When Florida got their chance, they proved everyone wrong and arguably started the reign of dominance the SEC has now.
We can't always determine which teams would win until they actually play. For all we know, the Big 12 is actually getting stronger.
I personally don't think so but you never know

No way this happens

LSU vs. Bama in BCS title game.
Wait -- LSU already beat Bama.
Ergo, ipso fatso, LSU is BCS champs!

LSU and Alabama.
IMO Alabama beats Oklahoma St. And of course I think LSU would as well.
As much as I was hoping for an LSU-Oklahoma St matchup in the BCS championship game, at the end of the day I think the system worked this year in that it matched the two best teams against one another for all the marbles.
Thoughts?
We will never really know.
If you go by the eyeball test, I am not sure that LSU could have stopped OK St's Offense, and based on the Olkahoma game yesterday their defense was better than advertised. It think it would have been a good game.
Now all we see is a rematch that the best possible results is that one team could prove it is on par with LSU.
OK St. Wins and it is better.

okie st was more deserving of the game,
Agree. Bama, imo, is better than Okie St, but Okie St had the better schedule, better wins, but the worst loss.

imo, but that's not what the bcs is supposed to do.
Disagree. BCS was designed to allow the #1 and #2 voted teams who would not normally face each other in the season NOR the bowl games, the chance to face each other in post-season play. The problem with what happened is that the two teams have already challenged each other mid-season AS the #1 and #2 teams no less. I would have liked to see another conference champ have a shot.
----
But it doesn't matter to me in the end. All I care about is that LSU is in the title game and we'll throttle whoever we would play. We will be much better prepared for this game. I don't know if the coaches expected to have JJ play almost the entire game last time around. That was JJ's first significant time in a game for this season. He now has played at full speed for weeks and in several big games. I expect a much better showing from us this next time around.

The best way to look at it is the BCS, as bad as it is, is a one game playoff. Every game matters. Every game funnels us towards a #1 seed playing #2 seed. If Bama gets trashed by LSU, maybe Pokie St. is ahead of them.
Be that as it may, Bama gave the best team in the country their stiffest challenge. Though unfair, their selection is deserved.
Geaux Tigers.

I think those arguing for OSU are just worried about the rematch and if LSU were in Bama's spot would be for playing again.
I can only speak for myself, but I didn't want the rematch because I hate bama so I simply dont' want them in. Can't argue that they MIGHT be the second best team, but how would we know. It's not like they didn't have thier shot already.
Have to admit it would be sweet to beat 'em again, tho.

They may be the 2 best teams.....maybe. We will never know for sure. And Its not the intent of the BCS.
the BCS website.

The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game showcase of college football. It is designed to ensure that the two top-rated teams in the country meet in the national championship game,
It says nothing about the "two best teams" and we all know bama and the media manipulated the system to stay at #2.
and this

This robust system of post-season bowl games offers rewards for teams and places a great premium on the regular season.
Yeah right
Tell me again about the system working.
No the system got worked

this is really a moot point. I don't have an issue with this matchup, but in general I think, with the system we have, college football fans should want voters to limit the amount of subjectiveness they use. Winning a conference should mean more than the "eye test" or how you think hypothetical matchups might play-out. The outcomes of late season key conference games, with something on the line, should mean as much, or more, than a comparison of losses.
IMO, it's more about the 2 teams that deserve to play for a championship than the theoretical 2 best teams, or who matches up best, or what the best game would be. Again, I don't have an issue with the way it worked out this year, but if this were to happen again next year there will be major momentum to tweak the system.

Fortunately, we don't need your opinion to know what happened on the field November 5.

I saw one superior team above all others.
We're giving another lucky team a chance to beat us, but we were the best team. We proved it on the field all season. Even we were to lose, we'd still be the best team in 2011.
I'm going to claim it, and enjoy the shite out of it.
