You know there's a significant amount of fans that supported not because they believed in him, but just because so many hated the hire. That's just their nature as contrarian.

If the board had loved the hire then those same people would've thought he was a bad hire.

Doesn't Miles deserve most of the credit for the Coach Orgeron hire?

EDIT - OOPS. I misread, or poor reading comprehension... I was thinking of Coach O's original hire to Miles staff.

The new head coach hire was complicated by the crap pulled by both jimbo and hermann. As a fanbase, we got very, very lucky.

I mean, outside of a literal handful of people, who here didn't feel this way?

Did it ever occur to you these people might have believed something you never did?

Your rationale is a copout to hide your own disapproval.

GTFO with this BS.

This seems to be the only place people get into entrenched "camps" on such things.

I don't remember any large contingent of posters actively cheering for O to fail.

Maybe a few trolls here and there, but I don't consider those in these types of threads.

Of the three realistic candidates at that time. I was 100% O train as was way more than 10% . And stated it many times. Did not want anything to do with Herman

This is gold coming from one of the biggest contrarians on this board.

I guess it gives credence to the question of “Did Hitler think he was a good person?” If GoldRush doesn’t think he’s contrarian than Hitler most definitely thought he was a good person.

I have no problem saying I was wrong about Orgeron. I thought it was a bad hire, but damn near everyone else did too. I remember other fans on this site and most of the national media having a good laugh at Alleva hiring Orgeron. Ed is the one laughing now and I couldn’t be happier to be wrong.

Sure.

But those are not even remotely the same.

If you made up your mind from the start that this was a bad hire, nothing you say should be considered as serious again.

Oh, yeah, I didn't say there were.

There was a vocal camp, though, that were COMPLETELY ADAMANT that there was NO CHANCE HE WOULDN'T and that anyone who possibly thought otherwise, or even didn't completely share that view, was a complete idiot. That's who I'm referencing.

They know who they are. The threads have been bumped ad nauseum.

I never supported the O hire and I don't regret it. I had a lot of fun on this board making fun of him. I was also wrong about him.

Ummm You.

You spent ALL of the summer before 2018 arguing relentlessly that we were doomed and O was gonna set the program back 10 years.

Is there anything wrong with that? At that time, we lost to UF in '16 and got shut out by Bama at home. Then the whole Matt Canada thing, State and Troy, losing ugly to ND. It's easy to sit here today and say "well look where that got us now." But that's just using hindsight.

Nope, because all those people that just supported him to be contrarian are concerned with is "getting back" at people for not believing that he could do what he's doing. They're easy to spot.

There are a small group of fans that I know did believe in him, and they aren't the ones trying to call others out. They're just enjoying the ride, as they should be.

There’s not a wave of people lying and switching their story, the majority have happily said they were wrong

But they don’t apologize obsessively or obsessively point out how wrong they were. There were many posting all day trying to get O fired as soon as possible even if that meant trying to get recruits not come here by making O look like a dumpster fire on the recruiting board that players and their families visit.
