The guy took a beating every single game and you’re gonna pull this shite because he leaves before the…Texas bowl?
I’m gonna pull this shite because he’s forcing his teammate to burn a redshirt when he gains absolutely nothing from entering the portal now as opposed to entering in January.
He knows he’s leaving his team in the lurch and doesn’t care. And that’s fine he has the right but I don’t have to be all “wish you well” on his way out either.
He doesn’t want to compete with Nuss and Howard under a new coaching staff? That’s fine. That just means he was never tough enough to lead this team in the first place.
And the dude got beat to shite because he couldn’t read a rush if he had the defensive signals.

Max is a quitter, plain and simple. Appears he didn’t want to compete for the starting QB job under a new regime and couldn’t even stick with his teammates through the bowl game. Big red flag for his future success.

This feels like the Dad was involved a lot.

He’s not forcing anything. He didn’t force Myles Brennan to leave. He’s not forcing Nussmier to start. Start a walk on, who gives a shite. Or burn the redshirt, again, who gives a shite. Nuss will not be here in 5 years, it’s irrelevant.

I hate to break it but 99% of the football program doesn’t care about the Texas bowl.

Ok internet commenter.

Well and the terrible OL and offensive scheme.

This is what bothers me the most about Max entering the portal.
I don't understand the urgency.

Not Max that’s for sure

I would be fine with getting rid of every player who didn’t care about the Texas Bowl. It’s time to get that mentality out of this program. Any game that you put on that LSU jersey matters. It’s time to get back to that.

The scheme was bad. No doubt about it. But you can’t scheme around a QB who throws the ball behind his back.

It sure seems like it. Max says he's entering the portal and his brother pulls his commitment the same day.

I have to agree. The bowl game is in less than a month.

You’re emotional over a young man transferring before an exhibition game that in no way impacts the future of LSU football. The same young man that this board despises anyway.
Take some time to think this over.

I’m not emotional in the least. I think it’s shitty but I welcome the transfers. Get everyone who doesn’t want to be here out.
Leaving his team in the way he’s leaving it is a very selfish and shitty thing to do. He’s got the right to do it and I wouldn’t stop him if I could but I’m going to call it what it is.
It’s spiteful, selfish and shitty and it screams spoiled little kid.

I think he's actually making a good point. I don't think he's emotional but I don't think him being a little ticked off at Max bolting now is uncalled for.
Any player that says "it's just a meaningless bowl game" can go play for Duke or Harvard or wherever.
The kids played hard to get to this bowl, however small a bowl game it may be, and those that are all in to playing for the team will "get up" for it.
I never despised Max, I gave him a lot of credit and persevering, doing what he could but the timing of this 'announcement' is beyond odd and it's a stick in the eye to his former teammates right before the bowl game.
There's no reason he couldn't have done it in a little over 3 weeks.

He doesnt even know who the OC is going to be yet. He’s pissed off for whatever reason and is taking his ball and going home.
And that’s fine but I’m not going to shower him with roses on his way out. frick him.

This is what I'm wondering.
It's like he caught wind of something. Be it who the OC is, an incoming transfer, I honestly don't know but the timing is really odd and to make it even weirder, his brother pulls his commitment on the same day.
Sure seems like there's more going on. And that's fine. He can leave and his brother can too, whatever but the timing is what I have an issue with. Makes him look really bad, IMO

I have a hard time believing they’ve heard something of that magnitude and it hasn’t at least made it’s way to the pay sites yet. If they knew someone else would know too

I really can't say here or there on that. It just seems really weird to split right now.
Like Kelly told him your new OC will be _______ but he wants to do ________ and for whatever reason, that doesn't suit Max. This is totally speculative, I honestly have no idea.
Or maybe Max sees the writing on the wall.
It could be any number of reasons but the timing is what I have an issue with. I don't have any ill will on the kid but unless he's seriously hurt and wouldn't be able to play the bowl game anyway, there's no reason he couldn't have waited another 3 weeks.
It's just a bad thing to do to his former teammates.

quote:No. It counts toward this season.
Since our game is after the new year, wouldn’t that technically count as the next season/year?
quote:That is school-specific. Not a NCAA rule.
(I thought there was some rule where it counts as the ‘next season’ when the new year hits, some suspended players in the past played in bowl games, etc…)
Posted on 12/7/21 at 11:22 pm to PrideofTheSEC
Also, could be he doesn’t want to compete for the job and thinks it’s owed to him.
Posted on 12/7/21 at 11:24 pm to la_birdman
I think Max made his mind up to leave during the season when you could visibly see his frustration. Play calls were late getting in, pass rushers annihilated him, and the offensive scheme was downright embarrassing. Having said that, this seemed like a family decision with his brother decommitting on the same day. CBK probably had an honest conversation with them and they didn’t like what they heard.

This was my point when I started the topic. So little is known because in a true sense BK and his coaches haven’t taken over yet. What caused this extreme reaction? Points to the dad.
