for us to have Russell run the team from QB, because his style is so different from the others, that we would have to have a line which knew BOTH ways of playing/blocking,
SInce we don't have an OL that can consistently block for either style quarterback if would be futile to ask them to learn two schemes.

I waited all of last season for RS to be unveiled (Like vs Bama, Florida), thinking that Les was keeping RS's abilities so that nobody could gameplan against him. It never happened.
I just hope I get to see him this year.

Shep didn't play a lot because Miles didn't want him to play a lot. Plain and simple.
Miles is the head coach. He makes the decisions -- albeit horrible outcomes.

Blah Blah Blah
The reality is that this coaching staff decided that Andrew Hatch was worthy of starting and throwing passes.
Shepard is leaps and leaps and leaps and bounds better than Hatch regardless of the practice crap, the knowing the playbook crap and whatever other excuses you can make. He didn't throw one pass. All year. Not one. How many other RBs in the SEC did?(RBs mind you, not QBs) Just against us?
Our offense was the worst in the SEC by a longshot. Going by yards per game we were 112 out of 120 teams.
When your offense sucks that freaking bad. You chuck whatever ideas you had about what you think is working and you start the frick over. And for most intelligent coaches that begins with looking at the guys on the bench and seeing if your best players are actually getting on the field.
But apparently not Miles, because our most explosive player didn't even play one snap in the bowl game.
I actually like Miles for the most part, but the way he has handled Shepard when the offense sucks donkey balls is nothing short of freaking astounding and unexcusable.
Whatever the problems that Shepard had with playcalling or whatever. They weren't any worse than the overall problems the team had all year and the fact was that he almost always made yards when he was in. And yes he did have some bad plays but does it really matter if its JJ or Shepard that gets dropped for a 5 yard loss on any one particular play? At least play the dude that could possible break it and take it to the house. Simplify the f'ing playbook and play the son of a bitch.
But I guess the rant will keep making excuses.

tl;dr
Be glad Shepard didn't throw passes. He's going to be a much better WR/RB

Or you could also come to the conclusion that it really couldn't get any worse. It was like Byron Scott saying he wouldn't start Marcus Thornton because he didn't grasp the defense. Hell, before he got fired, not a single guard on that team outside of CP3 was playing any defense. At least Thornton could put up points.
That's the issue I have with claiming the line would struggle with a different scheme. They sure took the current scheme to the shitter.

I dont think RS needs to know the entire playbook. I feel the staff could have designed several plays to get him the ball more often (especially the way things were going). If the offense was doing well, I could understand. Hopefully this will be a breakout year for him.
Im hopeful and excited about Les, Staff, and Team for 2010.

This guy is one of my favorite tiger's along with Peterson. Hopefully, he's utilized better next season.
