maybe so
but LSU still has very good attendance every game, you just have yet to have a good close game in tiger stadium and the last one was horrible weather. People just have nothing to complain about after a good win vs Auburn.

I was disappointed by the 2nd half crowd last night but I don't blame people who left. Don't expect every single person gto be a crazy die hard fan like some of us.

a ton of people didn't even bother to show up... the 103 sections etc were 1/3 empty on that side of the stadium.
then half time came and a lot more people left
it was still raining at halftime

Well Miles makes it close if you would just wait long enough to see a good game at the end.

I think the root cause of our crowd issue is what has happened with the TAF and ticket prices. The only people that can really afford season tickets are the upper crust. Gone are our diehard blue collar fans that stayed for every play, soaked in bourbon, and treasured a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
If you can afford 5-7 thousand for season tickets, then you can afford to let them go unused on a rainy night with the game on espn. I realize the money is needed to compete, but it has changed the nature of who attends the games away from our more traditional fan base.
Could not agree more.

but nothing beats LSU baseball fans
Yeah right. They clap for the other team. They never cheer. Many are so old they don't even know what is happening. Mass exodus in the 7th inning.
The big difference though is that they are able to sell or give their tickets to other fans who show up for the games.
So it's supply and demand. People prefer their homes with free food, liquor, and clean bathrooms to TS.

Here's an article

There are a couple of known facts about what is going to happen Saturday. First, LSU will win quite handily. Second, about 20,000 people who have tickets will not attend the game.
No-shows have been a problem at Tiger Stadium in recent seasons. Ticket scanners were installed at all gates of the stadium in 2007. Beginning with that season, LSU has played 38 games at home. The average number of no-shows for these games is slightly more than 14,000.
The number of people who do not show up doubles in non-conference games as opposed to Southeastern Conference contests. In this stretch, LSU is averaging a little more than 9,000 no-shows at SEC games and slightly less than 20,000 no-shows at non-conference games.
quote:
In the past six years, LSU has sold no fewer than 91,556 tickets for any home game. In fact, at least 92,000 tickets have been sold for 35 of the 38 games. However, LSU has never had 90,000 people in Tiger Stadium.
The two largest actual crowds occurred at games in 2007 - Florida (89,800) and Virginia Tech (89,200). LSU Assistant Athletic Director/Ticket Manager Brian Broussard indicated that the scanners miss no more than 1,000 tickets at any one game.

Here are a few things that would make more people stay (when it's not raining).
1. Schedule less shitty OOC home games and more at least average ones. Instead of Towson, play Utah. Instead of Kent State, how about Duke? Let's play two bottom half teams from BCS conferances (NC State, Kansas, Iowa, UConn, Utah, ect), one instate FBS team (ULL, ULM, Tulane, or Tech), and one big matchup (Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Oregon State, Louisville, Florida State, ect)
2. serve alcohol in the main part of the stadium. Why do people bail out so early? To go drink more once their buzz wears off. How do you keep them there? Serve them beer (at an affordable price with a valid id of course).
3. Fix the traffic. Here's my plan which I guarantee would help tremendously:
a. 4 lane Nicholson past Lee (possibly as far as bluebonnet) with left turn lanes at every traffic light intersection
b. just get rid of 90% of the Game Day traffic cops. They don't actually direct any traffic and they just take up lanes with their cars and collect overtime. Traffic really doesn't start to move until they leave.
c. I-10 East needs an on-ramp at Dalrymple
d. Traffic light on River Road @ Skip Bertman Drive if only for Game Days.
e. Add Left turn lanes in all directions for intersections of Burbank at Jennifer Jean and Burbank at E. Boyd.
f. re-connect West Parker to Nicholson
g. stop blocking traffic from crossing Highland at Parker
h. either make it a 4-way or put a light at Parker @ Stadium drive by the UREC
i. 3 lane (2 travel lanes and a turn lane) Highland Road with committed left turn lanes at every major intersection the entire length of Highland Road where it is not yet 3 or 4 lanes.

The excuse that poor play calling is boring and makes fans leave is pathetic...absolute trash.
People going to games claiming they support LSU, but leaving early and sighting that running into a loaded box is boring is complete garbage.
Then don't go at all! If you don't attend, so be it. I am not one to constantly complain about what other people do...or wear. But when you leave early, it embarrasses the entire university.
Face it...our fan base isn't exactly 'SEC caliber' all the time. It used to be, but it has worsened.

more football fans complaining about baseball fans.
LSU has lead the nation in attendance for a long long time.
Go to Omaha during the CWS when LSU is there or not even there. There is no doubt why Omaha loves them so much, we have the best fans there every year.
Clapping for the other team is good sportsman ship never happens in football except on injuries. But baseball isn't football you appreciate a good play while pulling for your team.
LSU baseball has the best fans in the country, but of course on Tigerdroppings a place where everything LSU sucks we have horrible fans.

sorry, not sticking around with a couple minutes left to watch miles essentially try to kneel to ball.

I said this last night in one of the many threads on this issue and many agree and many disagree but Im with you 100 per cent.

I sat in that rain last night and was glad to do it.
Posted on 9/22/13 at 3:10 pm to catholictigerfan
Didn't say the baseball fans are horrible but they have faults as well. This thread was about fans leaving. Bball fans leave early and don't show as well.

Alabama 2012 and 2010 beg to differ
Posted on 9/22/13 at 3:12 pm to windhammontanatigers
how could anyone agree with the OP?
THERE ARE PEOPLE GIVING AWAY TICKETS EVERY SATURDAY IN THE FALL
if not giving away (bama, florida, USCe) they are selling them for cheap
then add a freaking rainstorm, and those tickets drop dramatically
there are no blue collar droves of fans waiting outside of the gate just itching to get in
that's a myth
people can attend the games, for very cheap. they choose not to for whatever reason or another.

I think this may be a NCAA or SEC policy so LSU has no control of this, it would help but don't expect that to change. Be glad we can have it around the stadium there are some colleges where they don't even allow this.

this needs to happen but will be a long time coming I don't know if you can expand it that easily and traffic would be an absolute pain for the year or two while they work on that. Brightside went to a 2 lane with a turn lane and the construction traffic was the worst.

that could help

c. I-10 East needs an on-ramp at Dalrymple
do you know about the short cut for going east on I-10 there. Go west take the first exit and turn around going east.
quote:
d. Traffic light on River Road @ Skip Bertman Drive if only for Game Days.
They don't need this the traffic is finely controlled by the police and a traffic light would fix nothing but during rush hour during the week I would love it

all good ideas but most of them would require lots of crappy louisiana construction work.

Les Miles has taken the fun out. With the exception of this year, our offenses have been so boring that it was almost not worth it. Yeah we had great defenses, but folks go to the game for excitement. Our offense has been so boring the past few years that it was almost not even worth it to go. That and, pretty much every game we play now is a blow out. Back when TS had its real mystique is when LSU was kinda so-so and everybody knew every game was gonna be a good game. Now it's just kinda "ho-hum, let's go beat the shite out of these guys"
But the stands are still filled when we know that they have to be (see USCe and Bama last year) TS still has its mystique on those types of games but not a game where we're just beating the hell out of everybody. Those games get real boring, real fast.
