The Right Decision was made, however horrible the process getting to it was.

This entire time I couldn't believe this administration was willing to pay that much money to push out the best coach in LSU history, right now. You're telling me that his transgressions are that bad you couldn't him a single game longer? Regardless of who came up with the $$, it's still real money people. I don't know what the payout drops to next season, but with the players coming back and the recruiting class coming, it was a no brainer to give this one more go. The effects of a coaching change run deep...and who knows the true effects it could have had on this team.

The instant gratification, immediate reaction, impatience with a complete and total lack of perspective mentality by the media and fans reared its ugly head and even though King looks like a complete dolt in all this, I for one am happy this was all nixed. Had the original leak never happened, no one knows any better and the normal expectations for a 2-3 loss this season would have been accepted.

The issue for me is not about whether we kept Miles or not. The issue is, as you've pointed out, how the decision was made and what it means going forward for future decisions.

Why is a normal 2 to 3 loss season acceptable for the fan base? Why do you fault people that want to make a change when they feel middle of the pack isn't going to cut it?

Well FSU is about to be 2 years removed from a NC so Jimbo is underachieving by rantards standards and would have been fired here shortly after being hired. Muschamp has been underwhelming.

It is not acceptable to lose 3 straight by double digits.

It's not acceptable how shitty LSU and Les' record is in the month of November (you know when it matters) over the past 4 seasons.

LSU will continue to win 7-8 games on talent alone, regardless of coach. Spare me whatever BS in the past you want.. LSU is more established now and can be so much better.. but by all means.. let's keep settling for 7-9 win seasons now.. Let's just accept. It's absolute BS. LSU could be such a premier power program, but we won't see that until Miles is out.. because his philosophy since 2008 is not changing.. and I don't see LSU winning any championships with it.. and the man won't change. He's the most frustrating HC in all of college football.

The difference between Alabama and LSU was just high lighted for everyone to see. They are willing to do what ever it takes to get who they want. The university does not stand in the way and dictate to the boosters and their Gump version of the TAF. So going forward we may very well need to get used to being mediocre if we don't have the backing from the oh let's not set a bad example crowd of academics and politicians that apparently factored in the decision.

DC at LSU or HC at USCe, which do you think he chooses?

That buyout would be $15 million if Miles is terminated prior to Dec. 31, 2015. It would then drop to $12.9 million for the contract's fourth and fifth years, to $8.6 million for the sixth year and $4.3 million for the seventh.

You're incorrect. It would have been worth the investment in Jimbo. Wait till you see half full Tiger Stadium next year. Then you will understand.

I'm all for retaining proper perspective on the University begetting the Athletics Department, and subsequently, the football program, but to ignore the possibility that the investment (which regardless of perception, doesn't harm the academic budget one iota) although steep would have been just that -- an investment. Everyone deflecting this whole charade away from the main issue that CLM football is a dying beast is ignoring that a decline in the football program could result in a decline of TAF funding from those very same "ignorant," "football over academics" types.

If you try to force these people's hands by looking a gift horse in the mouth, you could very well likely screw the football program AND the University.

I just can't fathom why you would endanger by far the most profitable arm of the University's brand and expect the reaction to be anything but outrage... I can understand the theoretical parts of everything that transpired, and I guess it all really makes that much more sense when you understand that politics became the driving force behind all of this.

If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about who was right and wrong in this, I don't know what will. It was Trump vs. Sanders and Sanders came out on top. Let's hope that idealistic view of the world doesn't come crashing down on LSU Football when it is implemented in the real world.
