If we fired him for cause onthe Title IX, we would be admitting, in some form, that LSU has some liability. That would be the real shite storm

Tough spot. Would you rather the $17M over time, or fight off the Title IX allegations with the lawyers and avoid the real backlash?

His silence. Can’t condemn LSU or go against LSU in any way. Not even in recruiting.

LSU circled the wagons around O when this all went down. Firing him for cause over Title IX went out the window then.

Exactly. You don’t want to have cause from that investigation because it would detract potential new coaches.

This is right....they don't want this shite to carry over to the next coach's watch. They want it to fade away....firing the head coach for cause due to Title IX complications isn't fading away.

Also correct.

Lots of reasons: yours, the silence reason just below you... I also think it's about remaining attractive to coaching prospects. Our expectations are out of this world. We're canning a coach less than 2 years after a natty. At least now candidates won't have the perception that LSU will look for reasons to avoid a buyout.

I said this multiple times to deaf ears on here. Some of you have no idea how this all works.

It's all very tidy with a bow on top. You're right the blowhards have no idea what is more important: the image of LSU and no one is bigger than that.

I agree. I also think this helps getting a new coach. We have let Coach O go pretty early considering he won a national championship less than two years ago. I think if we wouldve fricked him out of his buyout it would not have been a good look with future coaches.

TrueT- You are correct...
Having O leave on good terms (yes, the money too!) means he will be more inclined to continue a positive attitude toward recruits and the media, which looks good for the LSU brand.
