Didn't Eric Reid say in the fall that the db's are frustrated because Mett put the ball only where the receiver can catch it. What has happened from then to now?

it's hard for a db to get it at the WR's knees.

So far, Mett has been a big disappointment. I thought he would really pick up our offense because of our great running backs. So far this year it hasn't happened. If he doesn't change soon I hope Les will give Rivers or Randal a shot! Thank God for our Defense!!!

Also, we throw 80% of our passes to the outside, so defenders can anticipate the throws in most cases. Typically, the Oline cut blocks for 3 step drops to get the defenders down and create throwing lanes. If the defenders are upright when the throw is made, then the chances of a batted pass are higher.

This is the main reason. Miles doesn't seem to understand that eliminating 1/3 of the field makes the defense's job much easier

Mett has a confidence problem. I say let em fly mett. Grow some balls. You ain't going to please all these critics. So don't worry about pleasing everyone just please yourself.

Our defense bats down a ton of balls to. It's not that big a deal

All good Ds do that cause they are taught that if they can't get to the QB, get their hands up.

When our O line maintains engagement with their guy, it's not much a problem.

Like you said, it's not a big deal. imo

I would have thought it was from staring down his receivers along with a long slow throwing motion.

bingo....tell the man what he has won, johnny.

his motion reminds me of JJ...his feet remind me of JL. that said, we were 31-4 with those two kids.

Is on the front page of the Sports section of the advocate. on the shorter routes he throws the ball at a downward angle.

JJ and Lee used to drive the ball down around the receivers knees quite often too. I used to think it was because they weren't any good but I'm beginning to think LSU's QBs are being taught to do this. The only reason I can think of why they would be coaching them this way is to keep them from sailing the ball over the middle or throwing high to the receivers and having it go through their hands both of which result in interceptions more often than not.

Two Reasons : Short routes are harder for QB to find window to throw. Reason two is 6'7" DE ends that have a 7 Footer Wing Span will go in the first round of the NFL Draft(Clowney) are pretty damn good. (See Sam Montgomery)
