The reality the national media refuses to accept

It’s interesting how the national media, with a few exceptions, is so upset about Kelly to LSU and so thrilled about Riley to USC.

I wonder if it’s SEC resentment, fatigue. You’ve got the winningest coach in Notre Dame history, a school with an incredibly rich tradition and history that these writers are absolutely enamored with. They put Notre Dame up on this pedestal of royalty… This sort of tradition, and the tradition of Michigan and other Midwest teams, gives them a strange sense of pride. And they hate the SEC. new money. Overrated. Cheaters. Podunk rednecks. Dumb.

And now, the winningest head coach of their Notre Dame, their Mecca of football, chose to leave to coach at LSU, where he’ll be paid more, his staff will be paid more, access to better recruits, much better facilities. A better job. A better job.

That’s a reality punch in the junk they don’t want to admit. So rather than admitting that LSU is a better job, they say Kelly is a coward for leaving his players. Think about the players. Before the bowl game! On the verge of a playoff berth (never mind that ND only played one team this year that is currently ranked, and they lost)! He’s a horrible man. No loyalty. Only cares about $$$. He’s lost his reputation. He won’t even fit in in Louisiana! Fake accent (btw, I still don’t hear an accent)

All this, while Riley is lauded for his move. Even though it’s clear now that he and his staff were actively recruiting for USC while still employed at OU.

I would say it confuses me. But I no longer live in the South, so I know how people outside of the South think about the South. The South is supposed to be behind the rest of us.

And the winningest coach who sits upon the throne of their royal football kingdom voluntarily left for a better job. In the South. In the SEC. What a monster. What an arse hole. What a reality.
