The University of Alabama is borrowing money like crazy. Passing their bonds down the line and hoping they can pay those bills off in time.
Alabama is the family down the street with the perceived wealth that's actually broke.
I will try and remember this watching Saban hoist another NC trophy and them boasting on how much money the athletic department brings in and how he ois worth more than they are paying him.
LSU Admin sucks
The fans are getting screwed

Even if every word in that article is factual, he's got to look after the entire operation of the university. Not just athletics.

Wow. Alexander should be fired immediately.

Somewhere the Kingfish is smiling.
LSU now, as then, is the intersection of politics and sport and Tiger Stadium is the favored arena for political football and theater of the absurd.
Last night's play was one for the ages.

That tells you everything you could possibly want to know about where the program will be heading!

Miles absolutely would have had a job, and soon, if he chose to take one.

I can buy everything in this story. This happens quite a bit in business. Work and research is done for a project that could bring tremendous benefit to the business. Then a power hungry exec comes in and cuts it at the knees at the eleventh hour.

Louisiana Politics rears its ugly head

It's a failure of leadership. Alleva is the athletic director. He leads the athletic dept. Alexander is the university president. He leads the university. Do these guys talk? Good leaders communicate, sit down, talk, strategize, gameplan, play devil's advocate, brainstorm. You get the idea.
Too many cooks spoils the broth. Alleva's job, seems to me, is to orchestrate, to act as the go-between, between the university president, and the TAF. Look, I don't doubt Alleva was trying to do good for the football program, but it appears that (as others have said) this job is too big for him, and he's in over his head.
Neither he, nor Alexander, did Miles any favors by leaving him out to dry for weeks. I can understand a decision to not buyout Miles b/c it's too much damn money and we have other priorities at LSU (it's an educational institution after all)and the perception would be bad, BUT, all of this should have been hashed out before agents were contacted, rumors started flying, media stories are created.
If you know that there is a pretty good chance Miles is going to be the coach next year, and, he has a list of commitments ranked as #1, why would you want to frick that up, unless you were 100% certain you were going to fire him and bring in a new coach?
Horrible.

bel edwards needs to keep his arse out of LSU athletics.

I read the article. And if you think Miles or his agent will now try to leverage the Mizzou and USEe coaching vacancies for an extension after coming a count's hair from getting fired, then you're s special kind of stupid.
The author of the article thinks it's a credible scenario, which makes it a worthless hit piece. It's trash.
If he had one credible "source" to put in quotes, I'd have believed some of it.
Take your hate glasses off and use some reading comprehension.

Why do people think Les will immediately want another job?
He is getting up there in age and I envision Les' next gig will be sitting next to Herbstreit on Gameday.

Can we walk on Baton Rouge to have King Alexander fired?

The ROI is there for what they spend on athletics. But I promise you, they are gambling with their Amex Card on the academic spending in the last 5-7 years.
